Always room at the lawn mower club for another 928 bash session. Even if they have to bump a story about the intermediate shaft in 1000s of 996s blowing up.

As for the article: I always wonder why it's a big deal to do a Timing belt, WP, pulleys and seals on a 928 when the same type of "scheduled" maintenance is required on other over head cam interference cars, like Lotus, Ferrari and others.

A well maintained sports car (even a 928 will be reliable and fun.
I've enjoyed many long fun runs and years of dependable service from mine and will continue to do so.

Note: our PCA regional P4 Mag, shows 928S 85 and 86 MY's up 31%

I responded shortly after Roger. I don't blame the guy too much. His current car is a 2007 997 which tells me is probably not a guy used to turning spanners. If I had to take my 928 to the shop every time I had some little issue it would be a pain and frustrating. For those of us that stick it out, typical ownership involves lots of little fixes most of us never even think about. It comes with the territory. But if I was accustomed to new car reliability and infrequent visits to the garage and did not know the basics of using a multimeter or tracking down problems, the 928 could be a frustrating car to own.

True, but most any car of that vintage would as well, I would think. My biggest problem with it was that he seemed to be attributing most if not all of his problems to it being a 928, rather than to it being a 30 year old car. It just furthers that bad rep that is out there and largely undeserved.

The good news for the author is that he no longer needs to worry about making the dumbest decision of his life. He's already made it.

What bothers me is PCA choosing to publish this piece.
