Clutch master replacement as a solo act.
Last weekend I replaced the clutch master cylinder. Because of last minute cancellations from the helping hands, I decided to give it a shot on my own.
After getting the brake master out I could get the CM in the hole under the brake booster. It's not that difficult to get the screw on the right lined up and slightly tightened once you're in the car.
I taped the gripping end of a Vise grip and managed to lock it on the cylinder. I was able to make the MC turn but just not far enough to get the left hole lined up. After a couple of attempts I accidentally tilted the MC forward a bit which made the left turn easy going. The left hole lined up and I was able to screw the left also.
Next thing was to redo the left with the spacer and gasket in place. I feared that the MC would fall back out when undoing the left screw, but it did not. Just make sure that the screw grips and after that U can undo the screw on the right, turn the gasket and secure the right screw with spacer in place. I must say that I used longer screws. Even putting the boot back on wasn't that hard.
Don't forget to open a beer after getting this dreadfull job done. Making it as a solo act actually deserves 2 beers :-)
