Need help in Northwestern Pennsylvania
The sad story:
Finally left Texazz and returned to PA. I had picked up a beautiful 89' from a
pretty good Porsche mechanic who was the intermediary as well as the wrench. Convoyed the 928 and three other vehicles up here in July. Everything was great except I had a variety of warn lights including the Belt warn, all appeared after a fuel stop. Called the wrench and we sorted it out. Around late fall up here I was airing the 928 out prior to winter storage and around 124 mph the tension warn light started to flicker on. I slowly reduced speed and slowly made my way back home with only 1 total stop and only the lightest of throttle inputs. luckily ... no bad noises. While I was parking in the garage the light came full on instead of flickering. I shut down immediately and pushed her the rest of the way in. Did a cursory visual on the belt, no cracks, looked brand new so I called the wrench again and asked, approximately, how many miles were put on the sHARk since he did the belt change. only a couple hundred miles since the change 18 months ago after the heads were rebuilt. So it was never retensioned.
My problem is I can no longer work on cars due to age, airborne knees and the broken neck followed by the broken neck a few years back so I wonder if anyone knows of a 928 wrench I can convince to visit Oil City, PA -about 110 miles north of Pittsburgh- for the retension?
I'm willing to pay $750 - $900 for the trip and work and throw in Pattycakes the 82' Weissach - she hasn't run since I hauled her up here (Sept 2013) if they want her. If it's an overnighter I have a fairly large brick Victorian with several large nicely furnished bedrooms and if they're in the mood ... free wine/booze at my place and local restaurant meals so bringing the girlfriend/ old lady is also an option as a weekend getaway.
Anyone?

awesome! Also Kyle (Shark Attack) is up there in Erie, and he is a very good resource as well. He doesn't post here much since he switched to a 996 (I think he does post on that board), but he knows his stuff and has tools. Could be a good resource for you too Stan while you are there.

I'd be interested in coming along just to help where I can and to see how stuff gets done on the front of the motor. If there's room/need/desire for my participation, let me know and I'll see how my schedule looks.

Keep us updated and maybe Ed and I can show up too, to lend a helping hand if our schedules permit.
I would love to see Stan work his magic.

John, I worked for three years in the casino biz. Congrats! Your extremely generous offer got you the big jackpot!
I was lucky enough to have Stan check out my car at Third Coast this year. He's amazing on these cars and a genuinely nice guy. I'm of mostly Welsh descent and think Merlin is an apt moniker.
And Stan, check the weather forecast carefully before you do this trip. I've actually been to Oil City (a nice place) and have driven through Erie more winter days than I'd like to remember. " Light dusting" means under 2" of powder in Philly, but 6" of custard in Lake Effect country.
