Default Stephan's 1:24 scale 928 attempt

Hi everybody, I am Stephan from Norway. I have just restarted a hobby from my youth (I'm 30 now, used to do this 15-20 years back) as a disconnect from my work (help get things off my mind).
In addition to this, I have become madly in love with the 928s gorgeous curves (which I know everybody in here can appreciate).

My first car to be built is a 928, and while I initially believed the kit was pretty detailed, I soon discovered it was very much lacking underneath.
This project quickly developed into a learning project, where I will attempt to add missing details (suspension, trunk floor, etc) where it is oversimplified.

I do not have any previous experience here, so it will be interesting. I have also found that a lot of details are hard to get good reference photos of,
so I will appreciate any pointers you guys might have with regards to inaccuracies.

I am currently trying to recreate the rear frame and trunk space.
If anyone could give me the width between frame rails, and also the width of the spare tire compartment (rail to divider where the gas tank is mounted) so I can build on facts, it would be amazing!

BR Stephan Skogen

The yellow lines indicate what measurements I am after. Have not been able to find this info anywhere, highly appreciate help from someone with the carpets out!

I'm working through the weekend, I won't get to see my car until Monday or Tuesday.

If you haven't gotten an answer by then, I'll get it for you.

That car shell looks familiar

Here are the repair dimensions I have available. Not sure if they will be of much help as they are from the underside of the body. I can measure the trunk area when I get home.

Cheers!

Haha, yes I have scavenged the site looking for reference material!

The pic you attached gives a lot of valuable info, and if I could get some key data for the top side as well this could prove very valuable!

The build is coming along (slowly), but I am struggling with the holes where the shock assembly passes through the rear frame.
Seems to me the hole is oval, however I cannot find any picture which supports this theory.

Even better would be if I could obtain measurements in addition.

For sure, the info posted above has already helped a great deal in determining and improving the faults of the kit.

The long measurement between the frame rails at the very back is 41 7/8 inches. The width of the inside of the spare tire well is 19 7/16 inches. for what it is worth, the width of the very rear between the inner fenders is 45 5/8 inches.

It appears to me from the picture you have already posted that the holes that the rear shocks fit through are in fact round. They are placed at an angle of about 25 or so degrees and that may be why the appear oval to you.

With regards to the shock holes, I was talking about the underside of the car, where the entire shocks goes through.
Very different to find reference material.

Thanks for the measurements! Will sit down and do the math tonight.
Will provide some pics of my progress when I feel satisfied with the results

Another thing that is really challenging, is the criss-cross pattern in the floor on top of the fuel tank.

If anyone could measure the "stripes" (especially the ones that go from front left to rear right), how wide and long they are, again it would be very helpful!

Stephan: OK, so I'll ask. Is this a one-off? What scale are you doing? Is this something you have done before? How does one make a scale model?

Thank you so much! If you could take a picture straight from the top as well I would be forever grateful.
All pictures I have seen are from an anglenand not showing the entire plate...

Hi Steve, thank you for your interest. This is definitly a one-off. I did this back in my youth (10-15, now I'm 30),
and I just recently made a comeback to have something to disconnect from work...

So to summarize, this is very new to me. Previous efforts have not made a result I'm satisfied with, but I hope this will in time.

The scale is 1:24. I will post some pics of the starting point and how I have started adding details in a while.

Dear all, been a while since my last post.

I have managed to get quite a way on the information provided, so I thought I'd share my progress.
I do not have the starting point on my phone, but I will share that later.

Attached you will see the revised rear frame structure, along with my first attempt (based on eyeball measures and the original layout of the chassis).
I hope you are able to tell which is what...?

Let me know what you think; any comments are welcome.
This is the very first thing I am building from scratch, ever, so execution is not perfect...
