Default Where do I find Help ??

Hello all. my first visit to this site. I am in great need of help. My son passed away in July and I am 79 years old. He left me a 1982 Porsche928 with 32 thousand miles on it. He had it at a shop to be worked on but I have no idea what was wrong. I picked the car up and drove about 2 miles and it stopped driving. the man picked it up with tow truck and has told me a timing something was out and that there was a oil drip from somewhere that dropped oil on a pipe that made the smoke when driving. I know nothing about these cars and do not know where to go for help there is no porsche dealer in my small town and I have no where to turn to to get help or advice. Also my son had 4 extra wheels and they have the porsche logo in the middle of the rim. also in a storage unit I found 2 pieces that look to be part of the front of the car where the headlights are. I have no idea what model these fit or what even to call them. I am only interest in selling these items but have no idea how much they are worth or where to try to sell them. is there anyone here that is really honest that would try to advise me or give me a helping hand on what to do so I would not get ripped off on these items.

any help or advise you would give me would be so appreciated. I am old and in bad health and just need to get rid of these items at a fair price.

thanks in advance

ann... my e-mail is jazz925@cablelynx.com I am in Searcy, Arkansas ..about 1 hour north of Little Rock.

"bump"

Wow. You are out in the country there.

Try a new post with "Arkansas" in the title if no one offers to help you out.

For us to help, we need more information and pictures. Especially pictures of the engine and interior.

But, understand that unfortunately you have a car that may be worth only a few thousand dollars. The Porsche 928 is an old car, and there are a lot of them in poor condition out in the world.

Ann,

I'm in Springdale, AR. You should see an email from me (Sharkey928@gmail.com) requesting photos.

Ok, I'm prepared to look like the biggest jerk on the planet here, if this really is a little old lady in Arkansas with health problems who inherited a low mile 928 from her son's death with a storage locker full of parts and needs to sell them at a fair price, but....

I thought the same thing but I didn't see an angle. Tread with caution. As a person who deals with fraud everyday they're to many red flags here.

The car is worth something between $1,500 and $15,000 less the cost of doing a timing belt which could be $1,500 depending on who does it and what all it needs. The odometer reading of 32,000 miles if properly documented is a big part of that potentially higher value. And of course body paint and interior condition are a huge consideration as the costs of restoration often will exceed the value of many older 928s.
As was mentioned lots of photos would get more comments and perhaps get you some good advice. But this forum can be a bit harsh at times or brutally honest depending on your perspective.
It is very difficult to sell a none running car and get top dollar because of all the risks and unknowns plus 928s have ALWAYS been very expensive cars to repair....always !

Crumpler... I am in Searcy, Arkansas..not St louis where the most fraud seems to be in the county.
I will be happy to give you the name of my attorney that is handling the estate of my son to veritfy. I did not know I would have such ugly posting reply to my posting asking for help or info on trying to sell this porsche and parts. I honestly came here to find someone with a kind heart to at least give me some ideas on how to do.

thank you ann

The OP, Joann, sent me pictures of the car but I won't post them without her permission. As she stated it is a 16V model but needs a lot of help. I suspect the timing belt gave way when she was driving it home from the shop her son had the car at. Unfortunately it's another 928 that has been on the sidelines too long. On the up-side it's a 5 speed car but it's still 10k away from being.....
