Default HVAC BLOWER MOTOR REBUILD?

So I replaced my failing blower motor with a used one last spring. Today was the first COLD day here is AZ. I know most of you don't think AZ can get cold, but it was 34 this am and I did have frost on the 928. So I got in and turned on the car and the blower started howling. A few seconds and the sound disappeared only to return the next time I turned the car on later today. I think I should look into rebuilding the old part I took off. I searched and didn't find anyone that does this. Anybody have a connection?

You could get Roger's upgraded motor as I don't think there is a possible rebuild kit or procedure for the HVAC motors.

the top bearing may need a little lubrication, thats the common fail point. Also the squirrel cage may just be rubbing the top cover due to colder temps, things tighten up a bit.

My blower was pretty noisy too. I drilled a small hole on top of the bearing and shot some lube into hole. Seal it up with silicon, RTV, whatever.

That worked for about a year until the bearing failed.

Ordered Roger's replacement and after about 2 hours of installation, a perfect, very powerful and quiet blower. Simple installation and good value.

When I lived in Tucson I was very suprised how cold it got there. I would say that 40 degrees there feels colder than 30 in Wisconsin.

I installed the new blower from Roger. Very pleased. However, I couldn't help but ponder simply replacing the bearings in the old one as that's the only worn part. Greg Nichols (one of the Frenzy GTG organizers) replaced the bearing in his. It required some modifications to the bearing seat to accept a slightly larger bearing. It's tempting to attempt bearing replacement...but I have no regrets with the new blower. It was easy to install and blows very strong and is quiet. The wiring harness that comes with it was designed by Greg Brown and is made of top notch components and is very well made (I love perfectionists!).
