PS- Don't even bother thinking about a digidash switch on a pre-89. I own an '88 with a digidash conversion, but the PO had to do a lot of mods to get it to work:

1. What cosmetic condition does it have to be in?

2. How handy are you?

The reason I ask is that the cheapest way to get 400 rwhp in a 928 is a Stage III Murf kit, which is ~$8 or $9K. Figure another $1500 for a sharktuner and a WBO2.

Any 90-95 GT or GTS 5-speed that is going to fit the budget will need an automatic $5K in parts if you're going to add a power adder and not have to worry about reliability. So you're at $15.5K minimum, before you've bought a car.

So the question is, can you find a cosmetically nice '90 or '91 GT in the $24K range? Absolutely. But you'd better hurry, nice ones will all eclipse $24K in the next 2 years.

All of this assumes you are providing 100% labor, and your time is worth zero.
I am very handy. My dad started me at 16 doing a complete restoration of a 1966 Mustang GT. I had to take every nut/bolt/fastener out and if it couldn't be cleaned/restored I had to replace it.

Since then I have down engine R&R's/swaps, brake conversions (drums to discs, discs to bigger discs plus parking brake setups), full suspension swaps from simple struts to full coil overs, rear end swaps, transmissions conversions, electrical systems work (stereos, alarms, additional electronics).

I am looking for restorable to clean cars only.

My time is not worth zero, but I enjoy working on my cars.

From what I have seen 400RWHP is easy from a stage I kit, III would net me 500RWHP at least (I have only seen a dyno for a stage II).

I can definitely wrench on a cent./roots style s/c.

That's very helpful. I have known some cars you can put a dakota module or the like in and just all plug and play and some it's all plug and pray.

Forgot about the $1K+ you will need for a stronger clutch, no stock 928 clutch (single or dual disc) will hold more than ~360 rwhp. If it does, the car ain't makin' 400 at the wheels. Now you're down to $23K.
