Default Green wire difference ?

Bought a new green wire for my son's 1980 Us car a long lime ago. Just got around to putting it on the car. Pulled the old one off and tried to plug the new one into the distributer and its is a good 1/4" too short. It does not protrude into the distributer far enough to make the pin connection. Its part number is 928-602-907-00/100 as per the bag its in marked PORSCHE . That looks to be the correct part number. Has anyone had this issue? It measures 13/16" from black clip to end of white plug. The old one is more like 1".

Its been so long ago I can't remember where I bought it and can't find the receipt.

There's a spacer on it that needs to be cut off for the 928. Black, rectangular and it moves a bit. Snip it off and you will be good to go.
