Looks like we'll have a nice turnout. With syoo8, we'll have mid-Missouri represented. Anyone from further away planning to come? Would love to see some St. Louis, central/western Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska or Arkansas guys show up. Everyone's welcome!

Tires are "out for delivery" says UPS. So I will need the alignment Saturday. Bumping to ask again if anyone knows an alignment shop with the Hunter equip (and preferably with 928 experience) in the OP/Olathe area... actually, anywhere in KC since I've gotta go all the way across it to get home?
(before someone points out that new tires != alignment... the old tires show major uneven wear up front and I've replaced the shocks recently and didn't get an alignment yet.)

Unfortunately, not that I am aware of. Molle Toyota used to have a technician that did a lot of the 944's in town, but that tech is no longer there. The shops that lots of folks recommend around here for general service work on Porsche don't have alignment racks (at least that I am aware of) nor much experience in the way of doing 928 alignments.
I called BHR (816-561-6665) and they said have a dealership down the street that does all their alignment work, including 928's, but they usually book out about a week at a time. He said the cost would be around $209. If you call them, ask for Aaron and perhaps you could get him to expedite it for you.

Aaron doesn't work on Saturdays
Seemed nice enough though. I'll drop it off Monday, pick up Tuesday. Lots of miles to put in. The tires are getting mounted now, really hope that fixes my high speed vibration. (can't hurt - those old tires were uneven height from one tread block to the next, in the same plane.)
Thanks for the lead!

Keith: I'm gonna need new front tires and an alignment on my car very soon. The front tires both have bad wear on the inside edges. Let us know how your alignment ends up. See you Saturday!

Ach mein gott!! New tires make SUCH a difference. Highway vibrations are gone! Still general creaky buzziness due to it being a 25 year old car, but man what a difference.
Looking forward to the multiple trips into town now. Let's hope everything else stays buttoned up as it should for the next few weeks and thousand miles
Also, BFG 225(45)/50ZR16's did a very nice job getting out of my snowy gravel driveway. Felt nice and quiet on the road too. Not as wide/aggressive looking as the Kellys that were on when I got it, but still a W rated 4S tread that fits for a good price. Will have to see what they're like when the roads are dryer.

Shark Attack at the Kansas City Automotive Museum
The Shark Attack is still on!!
The roads are clear and so is the parking lot at the Kansas City Automotive Museum (116th & Strang Line, Olathe, KS). Tomorrow is supposed to be partly cloudy (so mostly sunny) and in the mid-40's for temperature. That's about as nice as you can expect for late December weather. Come out and swim with the Sharks tomorrow at the auto museum - we won't get too many more outdoor gathering opportunities before the really cold weather hits.
Since the weather is going to be so nice tomorrow, we can treat it like a Cars n Coffee event. We'll save the front row in front of the museum for the Sharks, but feel free to invite your friends to get their pride & joy cars out one last time before winter sets in.
See you all there!

Looking forward to Scott's pics, here's some of my quick snapshots. It was great to meet everyone. This time next year if my paint goes according to plan I won't be the ugly ducking amongst the swans

We had a nice turnout - 9 sharks! Thanks to everyone for coming out - we had a few more P - cars in the side parking lot. Below are my crummy cell phone pictures. Thanks to the KC Region PCA for welcoming us at their breakfast. Thanks to greatwhitekc for the idea. Thanks to syoo8 and his wonderful wife Alice for driving over from Columbia, and to sh944 for having us out to his garage condo (where he fixed my blown radiator hose!).
Let's try it again in the spring!
