Default WTB : H4 ( H5? ) Headlight pivot blocks

I bought a set of 8" H4 lights to update my OE 7" sealed beams, however they were missing some critical parts. What I am looking for are the "blocks" that the assembly would pivot on. There does not seem to be an actual part number for these and I have checked with our vendors, but no luck, so if you have a set of otherwise trashed H4's ( and they may very well be the same on 8" H5 units), I could use four of the parts circled below:

As a note, in the mean time, I built my own substitute out of 1/8" angled aluminum stock and elbow grease:

Ken,

In case you didn't see this recent thread on the hinges... Thread

It has pics of the ones I built which are similar to yours. It looks like your pivot pin may be sitting a bit high. I think it should be closer to the lower screw than the top, but maybe not an issue.

Don,
That thread is timely, perfect and completely missed in my searching! I'm not sure how I missed it when it was active either...

On my aluminum replacements, the pin is as closely aligned to the center hole in the bracket as I could make it ( which is based on how I assumed the "real" hinge was). It actually works just fine. I just want to use the factory parts if possible. It bugs me.

Related note, I initially made the replacements out of Delrin ( much easier to work with), but could not get enough offset and still have it rigid enough to satisfy me.

If I don't find the factory pieces, I may go with a Mk.II design that angles up to reach the upper mounting hole, like Don did here:

I am a little surprised at how spindly/weak the OE systems seems to be. For an object that would get serious wind buffet at autobahn speeds, three plastic links does not seem to be enough. Yet I haven't heard of anybody loosing a light at speed...

Ken,

Kevin in GA was nice enough to send me a single hinge that he had, so I had it to take measurements from to make the other 3. You can see from the above pic how the black sharpy mark lines up with the unused holes in the center. This mark was used to locate the height of the hole for the headlight post. I used the stock screws and added nuts to them.

I see now, that you didn't use the upper hole like I did, so your pin height looks about right, knowing that.
