Default H4 Hinge

Spent many hours trying to get the H4's I purchased early this year to work and I'm down to this point to get them mounted. I need one of these hinges. I was able to source a couple others and now am needing just one. The amount of time I've got on this pair I should have just bought new but I'm going for it. Lesson learned, watch who you buy used parts from.

Anyone have one on hand?

Oh dang, didn't even think about that Jim. There's a market for these too.

Sean

I believe I have a few kicking around. Looking at a headlight assembly right now that has two of them.

Let me get you a picture and if I got the right part, I will pop it in the mail for you

Cheers
Glenn

This the piece? Or will it work for you? I see it does not have the lip yours has. It is threaded to accept a screw.

Close Glenn. very close. I wonder if those are the brackets for the 7" lamps, I just pulled down some of mine from the rack and actually have no idea what those are. Those are the right hinges, but not mounting points. Wonder what those are for?

Thanks for looking though.

I wonder how long it would take for Hans to model one of those, and for one of the guys who owns a 3D printer to bang a bunch of those out? Begs the question of which flavor plastic used in 3D printers can be tapped to accept one of those studs.

I need 4 of these. Have a set of used H4's with none of the black hinges.

Anyway, i'll send you a complete perfect H4 light for you to have. Although its an right hand drive one but the brackets are all the same.

Thx Rich

The original looks like injection moulded glass reinforced ABS, which is used on pump casings, pool filter tanks, and lots of other engineered components likely to fatigue, and which are bolted together. I can't see how you could use that material, incorporating small chopped fibres, and plain ABS would be more likely to crack early. How about alloy? .. simple component and not difficult to machine.

Kevin,

If Sean now has what he needs, I'll take the part you found.

No need to tap. Just a hole and epoxy a socket set screw in.
