I don't know who the previous owners were, but Mike and Laura Vance had their new (to them) '85 Iris Blue 5-spd at 3rd Coast.

Dave - I've only ever seen it on 85/86 MY. It is unique too, close to the other light blue hues, but not the same.

I found one a year ago in Newark salvage yard 33p dual distributer euro....no keys I took a chance and the engine in the car seems to want to fly but you I'm limited in budget and time. Other details too. The car resided in Hayward the last year everything works even stereo except sunroof and drivers window is intermittent and was left down and weathered blue and tan interior but I gave been slowly collecting parts I cleaned rear window seals and also needs new rear latch it had a big hinking wing on it I took off and ut seems to have wheels I've never seen that are porsche like it runs I think it needs powesteering fluid and coolant thermostat. Its such a beautiful cars just days before being sent out to the yard it was next to a guards red 944 and the 928 was marked 944 I grabbed both as interior if 944 was nice and I was curious why both had nice wheels w good tires both run well! The 928 had 928sp embroidered in trunk carpet it's why I got it because it seemed different even before I found out it was a euro variant it also has dual distributers. I didn't know anything about 928s a year ago but I remember when I was in highschool in the 80s how I wanted one and Merc 560. I now have too many cars. I'm not rich it's a labor of love

Yes, pretty rare. Are you the person that bought my old one? (see my earlier post above in this thread). Welcome to the shark tank!

Beautiful car and Congratulations!
My previous 16k miles 1985 auto sold on BaT was also an Iris Blue Metallic in original color.
Great car! Don't really like the low mileage cars, since I get scared driving them!

Anybody own this one? Pre-1988. Owned by David Croeni of Foster City, CA. I think the official color name is Iris Blue Metallic, but could be wrong about that. If it was that color, it would have been a 1985 or 86.
There was an earlier, similar color called Helblau.
Dave was a great friend. I'd like to track down his 928.
Thanks!
Brad

@80eurocarguy did you buy it? Some pictures show a rear wing, others do not.
Once upon a time... Sept-Oct 1998 to be exact, there was a very special Iris Blue Metallic '85 5-speed 928 for sale. Madison Gunter in California was the seller. He was good friends with Phil Tong and the car was actually a large part of the inspiration for Phil's momentous 928s4vr site. Madison had had the motor balanced and blueprinted by Devek and it was said to be a torque-monster. Alas, I was naive and had not yet learned the rule of not passing up a good car even if it did not match my criteria exactly, so I dragged my feet in indecision and someone else bought it before I came to my senses.
I don't know if this is the same Iris Blue S3 the OP mentioned or the Jersey car posted above by 80eurocarguy, but both reminded me of it!

I bought the car because it had good tires 85k miles, no keys, and a runner I was told. It started up fine everytime and sounded nice. I have not gotten to this project yet all I did was some cleaning removed the wing so I could clean under window rear hatch seal. I drove it into a lot a few years ago covered as I was busy w other projects. Turns out to be an 85 euro 33p iris blue. It’s rough on outside but I don’t care it’s beautiful to me I was wondering what a car like this would be worth to an enthusiast. I also have a shell of a black S I may be wiling to sell or trade for mechanical work in SF Eastbay area

Does the Iris blue car have a BAR sticker in the doorjamb? I'm interested if it's ever been registered in the state of California. Any idea how many years since it was last registered? Half the value of the car could be in that BAR sticker to the right buyer.
