Helllo Kevin i can't keep quiet any longer.
You have no fear painting your 928 outdoors, I had tremendous fear of painting outdoors !!
Didn't you get crud in the base and clear? Wouldn't say it was crud, but did get some nibs in the clear. The day was very calm.
Is that the reason you started wet sanding with 1000 grit? No I started with 1000 grit because I used a new gun and got some orange peel on a couple panels before I sorted the gun adjustments out. Not all the car required 1000grit.
Did you blow through the clear at all starting with 1000 gt?
No I purposely put on one extra wet coat of clear, knowing I was going to colorsand the car anyway. The color sanding is all about finesse, not muscle.
An inquiring painter needs to know..
Pictures never show imperfections like muddling or specks in the paint.
Really how good did it turn out?
It turned out very good. It is a nice driver and not show quality. I used quality materials and took time. I will be re-sanding a few small clear sags that you can still see at certain angles. I don`t do this as a living, its just a hobby for me. My son owns the shop and was nice enough to let me take up space for a few months.
If no specks of dirt in the finish or unevenness in clear coat surface
i need to move to Arizona.

Worked with a company that sprayed some large industrial equipment outside and then detailed about 25 cars that had overspray. Didn't pick the right day or spray painter! Only did it weekends after that but still not sure if it is legal here.
Climate here about the same as Arizona so if you pick your days and position it's possible.
When I retire I want to do a full strip down to chassis rebuild.
Your car looks really nice, hope you enjoy it for many years.
