It has been done. The yokes are basically the same - that it what it bolts up to - the cradles are clearly different sizes for 7" vs 8" - I think it is likely the 7" sealed beam cradle units work fine. That's the question that needs to be answered - anyone who has put 7" H4's into ANY 928 should be able to answer that question. Clearly you need more than just trim rings & connectors - e.g. you need something to attach the trim rings to...

Roger is comparing H5's with Silverstar bulbs to 7" H4 with presumably stock bulbs. That wasn't the comparison I was making - a bit of apples & oranges there. I stand by what I said. It is also possible for lighting to look good from the drivers seat but actually be bad - e.g. it might be very bad if you were sat in a different drivers seat (HID bulbs are often a great example of this). That does not equate to a good lighting solution IMO.

Just some personal experience from the drivers seat.

Had HID's in H5's and they were dangerous for other drivers. Pulled those and put in the 85/100 bulbs in the H5's and not once got flashed from other drivers in the 3 years I had them. Installed them in many cars and never heard a complaint. Sure, back in 1995 they would have pissed off other drivers because they would have been brighter than anything else out there, today? Not so much as everything new is much brighter. Alan does have a point about the way the lens sends the light but I'd not be too worried.

Putting 7" H4 on an S4 would be sort of pointless. Just my opinion. Now we've put the 7" "truck light" LED's in and they make a world of difference, to put them on an S4 you need:

928 750 327 03 - ugly chrome ring- get those painted body color and it won't look so out of place.
928 631 113 01 support frame
901 631 102 03 bracket

I'd only do this if you are putting in the LED lights and I do wish they made this in an 8" as the light is phenomenal. I'd just put the 85/100 bulbs in the H5's if you don't want to go with the H4's.

Again, just my opinion.

LED bulbs as replacements have come along way, even over HID.
The new 918 has LED's that get brighter as the car goes faster

What do you all think about these LED bulbs for use in the H5 or H4 8" or 7" lenses ?

Thanks!
