I have an old cork gasket, and had leaks. Put a socket on them and most bolts were very loose. I snugged them up, realizing I need to do this job properly at some point. No more leaks, and it has been around 3000 miles. I got lucky so far... just don't go gorilla on them. The torque spec is very light, similar to trans pan bolts.
