-Recently I bought an EPROM chip from John Speake. I had him ship it to me in Brussels, where I've been for the past two weeks, since I didn't want something like this to sit in my mailbox for any period of time.
I'm returning to the land of Boy Bands and Mickey Mouse [Orlando] tomorrow, and the EPROM will be in my bag. Which means that it will go through the X Ray machine....
John assures me that it shouldn't pose a problem, and I bet he's right. Has anyone ever known or heard of X Rays posing a problem to computer chips?
Normy?

My understanding is that EPROM chips are erased/programmed by means of light. I'm not expert by any means about EPROMS, however. Maybe someone else can chime in.
Are you still planning on visiting Michigan next week?

X-ray won't do jack to the EEPROM. I X-ray them all the time, intentionally and unintentionally. Looking at the ones in the previous pictures, you're good to go.
Dave - Those types haven't been in use for a really long time.

Cobey, the device Normy has is an EPROM with a window. It's an old type all right ! Not an EEPROM.
I think the doseages they use are quite low.
Normy,
If you're worried, I am sure they would let you take it out of your bag, visually inspect it, and put it through without x-ray.

Wow! Those are some old tech jobs! In that case, carry it in your pocket. When you get to the walk through metal detector, put it in the basket with your other goods. They can look at it there if they want.

The items that you take out of your pockets are now x-rayed as well.

Cover the "window" with aluminum foil, make sure it is pointed down in whatever bag etc. it is in and it should be fine IMO.
Assuming that the x-rays are only dispersed laterally. I would think only the "window" would be susceptable to them.
