Confused by the "Intensive Washer" stuff

Everybody is talking about the merits, or lack thereof, of the washer system engineering. All I want to know is.... what the heck do I put in it????????? Does it have to be the silicone stuff or can I use regular washer fluid, or use what's behind the other curtain?????

Since I got my car, I have never been able to get the regular fluid pump (the one in the engine bay on the passenger fender well) to work correctly. But, my intensive pump works great so that's what I use. For the little amount of times I ever use it, (Mostly just to pass PA inspection) I put regular fluid in the reservoir.

This is an unusual opportunity for creativity, much better (and safer) than adding some magic elixir to your motor oil. I'm going to put Coca-Cola in the "intensive" tank (or better yet, just say that I did).
In any case, if you are talking to an air-cooled purist, describing this system can divert attention away from the hideous thing under the hood.

I love the car, but this isn't the only system here that's a bit over-engineered. Sorry Nicole but I'm still going to laugh at the Germans on this one :-)
Speaking of fluids not being the same, has there really been such a great many advances in windshield washer fluid technology? The stuff strikes me as pretty much the same as it's always been, not that I've really paid that much attention to it.

Millions of Europeans have driven on the Autobahn in the 70s and 80s and did just fine. I doubt too many people missed this "intensive" stuff or any other car makers thought that it was such a good idea to equip it on their cars. In fact, I don't even think Porsche thought it was such a hot item afterall.

I have a 1988 BMW 735i that has the intensive system. I would say porsche was not the only mark with it. Maybe it was a marketing gimmick and all high end cars had to have it.

I think the utility of the intensive washer all depends on where you drive. We find it pretty handy here on the interstate when driving through thick clouds of rain and road spray mixed with greasy highway grunge. I fill it with 20/10 windshield-cleaner concentrate and it works wonders on the greasy film that builds up.

And, if I'm wearing a suit, I'm going to use the urine every time.
The reason being that the pH is closer to 7.5

Bilal, do you use Unicorn Tears or Unicorn Urine in your intensive fluid reservoir? I would think the Unicorn Urine would work better....
It all depends on the time of the month. sometimes it cries for no apparent reason so I gather the tears, other times it pisses all over me and I have to squeeze it out of my clothes.

Bottle some up and bring it to Frenzy. We'll give it to Roger and Sean and tell them it's "special sparkling" wine.
