Excellent. I put what I think is fair on the car, but not real high. I'm of the opinion that if I get it, I get it and if I don't, I don't. I had a cobalt 968 and it's a beautiful color. Best of luck to us, I'm not gonna raise my bid any. I have my plate kind of full with the GT up on blocks now, and the S4 going in for TB/WP later this week.

Also, I'd have to drive up and tow back which is a fair amount of work as well.

Is this line a concern....

"It was my year round daily driver for a couple years but parked in a heated garage."

I'm a flat lander from Florida but wouldn't it be BAD for a 1991 car to be driving year round in the snow of Illinois?

Not bad for the car; they are best when driven. The bad would be potential salt issues, and rust. That would need to have careful inspection. Especially if it is a repaint.

This seems less than kosher to me...

"On Nov-09-14 at 11:16:06 PST, seller added the following information:
.....
also the car will come with 4 S wheels with winter tires on them "

Even though the seller shows the GT wheels and says it is sitting on the GT wheels. I sure hope he isn't thinking about NOT including the GT wheels with the car.

Not exactly. It's pretty common "up north" to have a 2nd set of wheels & tires for winter. Performance tires are pretty dangerous in the snow & cold.
Having decent snow tires on their own rims makes changing them over a lot easier.

It does indicate, however, that the car was driven in the snow & salt of Chicago winters.

Yup

I stopped calling them snow tires, now they are cold weather tires. Once it's below 40 degrees....good luck with most Z rated tires even on perfectly dry roads.
God help you if it starts to rain at those temps.

I had Blizzaks on my E34 the year we lived in Michigan, it was invincible getting to the hospital on those mornings when we just had to be there no matter what.

Bidding is strong for a non-runner.

OK, so besides learning how rare and good looking cobalt blue GTs are, this thread had the other benefit of helping me to understand who CarChick is.

Duh!!

These reminders not to overestimate yourself are (almost) always good.

Meh, 7K is parts car money for a '91 GT, this ain't a parts car. A '91 GT is the best overall stock 928 ever made , it's the only U.S./Canada Cobalt GT in existence, it's one of 12 U.S./Canada cars ever made with the Rootwood options, (a $5500 option when new...) and it appears to be largely original. In the tired cliche of the muscle car market, this is actually a '1 out of 1' kind of car. Impossible to replicate

Yes, the non-running state precludes a proper PPI, the diff control error is worrisome, ~170K miles, salt exposure (these cars rust? ), all of which should negatively affect the final price, but I think this auction still has a long way to go.

sshhhhhhhh.....

you'll scare off the snipers.

No, you are right. Even if the car was sawed in half, badly, as long as the engine and transaxle are good that's $7k+ right there.

I just hope it goes to someone who will do the right thing as opposed to dusting it off, tightening the tensioner bolt all the way down, calling it good and flipping it. 'course we will know since it's one of one.

Looks like I'm gonna miss out. I don't understand why it's got a autocheck score of 63, for a non-runner with 179k miles. Meh,
