Wow. Sold for $17,500 with that kind of history? OH and I noticed the twisted center console too. That wierded me out. My head twisted like a puppy looking at it...

Strangely enough, the CARFAX screams Salvage/ Branded title back in 1997 !!!!

It's kinda funny, the more hands this car goes though the price keeps increasing.

[edit] I agree, but rather to be expected, wouldn't you think, if the price of any model goes up and the true condition of the car isn't revealed, then why shouldn't the price of this example increase? I guess you could also surmise that it is being sold to successively less sophisticated buyers.

If you are saying the buyers were/are aware, and still paid $XX (let's say a median price each time it sold), that is another kettle.

If the buyer doesn't do their homework prior to paying for the car, the first time its on a rack somebodies eye will be popping out. If its a typical Porsche shop next comes the talk about unloading this POS before sinking a lot of money into it. I don't see this as helping prices overall.

Default 1989 Porsche 928 Gt and intro

I guess since I don't have one, I'm more aware of what is coming on the market. Anyone seen this one on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-928-...-problem-check

I'm very interested (as other are) and would appreciate any help with checking out this GT. I guess one of the first questions would be let's see all the service records. Ant timing belt change?

As a first time poster, I will let you know who I am. My name is Tom and I live in the Denver area. I'm coming from the Celica Supra (starting in "91) world and want to step up to something with more comfort and performance. Also, I'm partial to hatchbacks and underdogs. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, but as I get older, crawling under the car gets a little harder.

So, if anyone is in the area, I would appreciate someone taking a look.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

LOL, this one again? How many times has it changed hands over the last two years. It's a mess and should have been totaled out no less than 2 times. The car spent a great part of its life as a track toy and I'm very familiar with the car. If it can be had for the current bid price then it might be a good buy.

Has the requisite verbage... "it's an easy fix" "I warn you they are quirky" etc. Good thing you ask about here, these guys know these cars!

The ad makes it look pretty good. Of course, that's what ads are supposed to do. Still...I could see me getting easily fooled by that. I feel pretty lucky that I got mine from a Rennlister who gave me a good, thorough rundown of what was up with the car. I fall in love with things like this way too easily...

Tom, you are on the right track with a GT, but this one has a salvage title and a checkered past.

Thread is here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...s-on-ebay.html

The VIN for reference is: WP0JB0923KS861117
Good hunting !!

Default 1989 928 GT on ebay--Opinions?

On ebay, here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-928-...m=111673617255

Opinions, anyone?

I'm still in the "928-Learner's Lane," so if anyone feels like buying, please don't hold back on my account.

But I would welcome any potential buyers' analysis of this offering--as well as of those experts not currently in the market.

Thanks again,

928UFO

Even before I saw the autocheck title issue I figured it had been hit up the rear - the 928 GT lettering has been replaced, and incorrectly.

The rebuilt title is a huge concern.

Looks like it spent a lot of time in Texas - this car is probably known to the people there? I vaguely recall some warnings about a car listed in Texas.

We're going to need to change "Enzo" to "89GT" because of this one! It is a well documented train wreck here.

Just look at the welding on the gearbox and run fast.
