Default Superchager for Sale

Fellow Sharksters,

Longtime lurker new rennlist member. (Yea!)

I have Supercharger Kit for Sale.
Every item is brand new and unused.

It is a Vortec kit similar to the one sold by F-A-S-T.
Major kit items are
- Vortec SC
- Vortec Aftercooler (modified for 928S-4).
- Custom pulley(s) and bracket system designed by Delta-P
(These pieces are works of art)
- RR FPR
- Bosch 30 or 36# injectors
- Fresh air Intake plenum
- Ducting
- Digital Gages
- Oil cooler
- and more

I am selling the kit mainly because it took me so long to get it together I no longer have the time to install it. The kit cost aprox $8800 with all the bells and whistles, and was designed for my 89 S-4. I am asking for $7300.

For more info on the complete kit and inquires send me a private message, or reply to this post.

Thanks
Chris W

The fast kit costs prox $5,500 complete (for a GT). What is it about your bits and pieces that make it worth a premium?

Gretch,

Good question.

Last time I checked FAST Kit did not come with the following:

- Modified Vortec Aftercooler
- Fresh air intake
- Digital Gage Cluster
- Boost sensitive By Pass valve (forgot to add that in the original post)

Additionally I have held and inspected both the Delta-P bracket and pulley system and the FAST. Simply
The Delta-P system is an outstanding development and costs more (at least it did for me) than the FAST pulley and bracket.

I think there is a high volume fuel pump as well. I just finished moving and have to take inventory of the items that I did not list.

OK, I do believe Tim's kit has all that and more and it has been installed in two cars (his and Lag's), undergone significant testing as a complete kit, right down to tie wraps, hardware, AFM, Fuel Pressure and boost gauges, ect. Tim says his price is in the same range as yours. You may want to consider this in the context of selling your kit. Best of luck.

One of the wierd things about this list is that posts can degenerate very quickly.

So now that FAST and Tim (Tim Murphy) have been dragged into this I guess I have to respond in some way.

So let me put it like this:
- This is a customized kit (in other words there is no one kit for every model 928, they should be customized to a degree.)
- It is based on the FAST vortec kit (to whom I give the props for being 1st)
- This is a tested kit with printed color instructions
(Just not tested on my car, hence (NEW)
- Gretch I read and learn from your posts all the time, but come on isn't asking price just that asking. Offer me less maybe i'll take it maybe not.

Well I am glad that my post is generating interest. Someone should wind up with a good deal in the end.

No offense intended, and believe me, given my personality, if I had intended to offend, you and everyone else here would know it......I can be such a jerk sometimes..........

My point is this: There are more than a few of us who have an interest in "huffing" our sharks, and some of us are even respectable wrenches on these beasts. That having been said, if I have learned one thing about supercharging on this site it is that if you don't know what you are doing you can really (*&%! your shark.

So the prospect of buying a selection of parts (pahts is pahts, as they say in Bean Town) and taking a crack at getting it right is, shall we say "daunting" for the majority of those interested in the subject.

I would guess that only someone who thought themselves an expert in the breadth of engineering matters necessary to get this done right, would consider purchasing a kit of various parts, especially at a price that rivals or exceeds that of production installed product.

Maybe it is just me, I consider myself a fair wrench, but I am unwilling to screw with the only shark I have, without expert advice and a product I at least "believe" is proven.

So I am guessing that you may entice one of the "experts" to get a list of your kit from you and, validating that there are some necessary and useful parts (mebee its even a "complete" kit, what ever the heck that is) offer you something representing a significant discount from the "production" prices, not $8 grand though.

That is all I was trying to say.......Why not post a complete list of the kit? I would be interested in seeing it and comparing it to the FAST stuff and Tim's kit...........

Fair enough,

Just in case there is someone out interested in the kit. I will post the specs on the kit tomorrow, after I inventory it tonight.

Also, I agree with you on the comment that even with the instructions this is something best left to a real gear head or someone who knows what the are doing.

Question who is "installing" a Vortec SC kit w/ aftercooler for less than $7500. I was under the impression that it would cost me at least $2500 or more to have the kit installed for me? If I could find someone who really knew what they were doing to install the kit for me at a reasonable price in SOCAL I would consider not selling it.

CMW,
I live in Redondo Beach and I am willing to help you install it at no charge. I will lend you a full weekend of my time and will bring my tools if you wish to install the kit yourself.

After I take a look at the kit and directions I may even be willing to install it for you without help at a VERY resonable rate just for the experience. I am thinking a fraction of the $2500 figure would work.

If you don't have one already I would suggest the addition of an air/fuel ratio meter or an exaust gas temp gauge.

FYI I have designed an entire roots type system myself with input from the other fine folks here. It is currently running on my S4 in prototype form. I believe that I would be able to completely install the system that I have designed in 1 day. I am pretty sure it would be easier to install the F-A-S-T type kit.

Since supercharger kit contents and details are being discussed, here's what Tim Murphy's kit consists of. It includes the intercooler, with all fittings and hoses, intercooler coolant pump, intercooler radiator, electric fans, fuel management unit, all required fuel fittings and braided stainless lines, gauges, new fuel injectors, intake plumbing, clamps, air filter, pulleys, brackets, supercharger, intake plumbing, blowoff valve, radiator hose, smog pump filter, breather plumbing, supercharger oil supply and return components and plumbing, oil filter, and probably more stuff that I'm forgetting about at the moment. Basically it's everything you should need for the installation, without any trips to the auto parts store for a piece of hose or something.

There are a set of installation instructions, complete with a number of detailed color photos, and also installation support after the kit is purchased. The installation procedure is split up into several sections, and the car is fully operational after completion of each of the individual sections. In other words if you don't have the time to do the whole installation at once, the car car will be fully usable until you do get the time to complete the next installation section.

The current kit fits '87 and up cars, and doesn't require any customizing or additional fabricating for any particular model year car in that group. Tim has had the supercharger installation on his car for over three years and for thousands of miles. The car has done more than 30 dyno pulls just that I've seen, and has had dyno results of it making over 525 rwhp publicly posted. The kit was installed on a second car in one weekend, it has had no issues so far, and dyno results for that one were also posted. Another kit is currently being installed by a customer on I think an '89 S4 or GT.

Thanks for the reply. After thinking about the sale last night I will probably take you up on the offer. I am interested in hearing about your roots charger as well, I have been following your project for a few months. You are using charger from a Jaguar correct? Send me a private message with your e-mail when you get the chance.

Z,

My kit has about 95% of what you listed. It does not have braided hoses.
The only other main thing that I have not solved is the SC Oil supply. Originally I was going to take the oil from the oil pan and use that to oil the SC. I have since been offered a separate oiling kit, could you or Tim comment on that.

FYI I am looking for a humble 400 -425 RWHP so I know that is well within my target range.

You are correct as it will require only 7.0 psi intercooled, to put you in the middle of your range.

Good Stuff Chris, I would like to hear how the install goes, as would a fair number of others here as well. Pictures would be nice.

If I was on the left coast I would bring the beer, just for observer rights............

Z Can you send me Tim Murphy's number by private message?

Alright - another SC project is born!

Chris, not to **** on your Wheaties, but will you be able to get your car smog-legal so you can drive it on the streets of SoCal?

Andy, how did you get your car smogged with the SC installed?
