This time of the year coming out of "WinterPig" make sure the tires are good. You may run into some icy road conditions especially early morning.
Good luck! Keep us posted.

Post your proposed route and I am sure folks along the way would be glad to help if you run in to any trouble.

The 928 Owners' Club has a list of people who can offer assistance (and to what extent) to fellow shark enthusiasts. This can be accessed as a guest.

Thanks folks. We have to make it back by Sunday night so we won't be making as many tourist stops as I would like. Also for that reason, stops are not currently planned. They will be determined by fatigue, progress, etc.

I live just S of Boca so no stops on this trip, but I am through there all the time. Thanks for the invite, though.

This looks like the preferred route. Hope this link works:

I have a friend that does this trip regularly to beat our winter. After the first few he came to the conclusion that any route that does not include Atlanta is better.

Travel time thru Atlanta varies greatly with the time of day. Try to go thru at any time other than rush hours. If traffic is heavy, take I-285 West around the city - only a couple of miles longer than straight thru.

I am somewhat familiar with Atlanta and the traffic issues. I plan to take the I-285 to bypass Atlanta unless I am late morning, early to mid afternoon or after 7pm.

Thanks for the advice, guys.

That's going to be a fun trip, Cameron. No sign of snow here; it's going to be quite nice/seasonal for this time of year (the 928 will love the cool early fall air). The road is a little bumpy to the border (only the first hour), but beautiful (comparatively) once you reach the U.S. I didn't see this car advertised. Was it living in Winnipeg or is Winnipeg just the pick-up point?

That is a lot of driving for one person...
It's a shame your son doesn't have his learner's permit yet.
That way he could relieve you (on the more rural portions of the trip).
It's amazing what an hour or two break can do to rejuvinate.

Wally is correct. Atlanta should not be any problem for you.
Ya just make sure to time it to avoid the two rush hour blocks.
Sounds like it'll be during the weekend anyhow (probably Saturday?).
And again, give us a shout if you wanna take a break.
Safe travels and happy trails..!

Doug,

The car was east of Kenora. It's a long story. I grew up in Wpg so I know the city and the area well. It been a while since I was on the 75 S to Emerson. It's an easy drive.

Mark,

It is a lot of driving. I love driving so that doesn't bother me. Yeah, if we were doing this trip at this time next year I could split with my boy. Woah, would he love that!

Atlanta, yeah we will be through there likely Saturday late in day. What was I thinking, should be no problem.

I will be driving with a special permit - no license plate on the back. I hope I don't get stopped frequently due to no plate. Any cop stop will likely be 20-30 minutes even if everything is in order. I could lose a lot of time that way.

Outstanding.

Congratulations on the purchase and I hope you have a great trip.

I've done a couple long trips with my son (NYC to Austin) and throughly enjoyed both.

He was that age too. Man, teenagers can sleep for hours and hours in that comfy seat.

My son is now 16 with a driver's license, so the next road trip will be a new experience!

I'm not worried about his route. I'm happy to know that there still mileage 928 out in the world.

Good luck with your travels!

Beautiful area up there, the colours will be rich this time of year. I would have driven down highway 71 to International Falls, instead of going back to Winnipeg
