The fog lights mount to the bumper support. Look at yours comparing side-to-side and find some pictures of other cars. If the lights are pushed back from the fascia then you'll know.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if the "shocks" can be seen from below or through the grille. If you can get at them, try measuring the distance from the larger barrel to the mounting flange. That will make sense when you see it.

Holy Sausage Links.

Thanks Shane, I never noticed.
I owe you one.
Looks like I found a Sunday project.

Regards.

They appear to fit into holes along the bottom of the vertical support pieces, but what holds them in there?

More importantly...see photo below. I can see where the old vertical pieces were attached, pieces were still bolted to the car (removed in the pic). I've put the new one in, and I just don't see how it can possibly fit. I would have to seriously bend it to the point where the piece that attaches at the top won't be flush with the panel. And, this is definitely NOT the longer center piece...this is one of the two shorter ones. The longer piece has the same problem when test fit into it's proper location.

These guys are correct about your bumper being displaced. It has been impacted which has collapsed the shocks and they do not rebound. Just look at the position of your lites in the bumper cover and you will notice that they are very recessed. they are recessed more than about an inch and that is a clear indication that the bumper is pushed back. You are going to need to remove the spoiler, the bumper cover and the bumper and then replace the shocks with good used ones, ones that are not collapsed. It is a big job; and getting to all of the screws holding the front bumper cover on is kind of a bitch.

As to the damage to the front bumper cover, it is made of polyurethane, I think, and is intended to bounce back to its original shape once impacted. On the other hand, it may be that the bumper was impacted and the cover damaged and then repaired with the shop not realizing that the bumper bar itself is out of place.

Post a picture of your front lites and we will all see what I am talking about.

When the bumper bar is put back where it belongs the grill brackets will fit.

I think you're right. With nothing to compare it to, they didn't look obviously recessed, although there did seem to be something a bit off about it. Sounds like a job that's a ways down on the priority list. I rigged a way to temporarily fit the grill so it won't fall out, and when I get a chance to pull the front off I'll take care of it properly.

I can't actually see the shocks in there. I wish there were a way to pull it back out for now, but if you have to take everything off to get to them, may as well do it right.

I'm betting those (drain?) holes below the lights are normally covered up...

Your bumper shocks are toast might want to check the rear shocks as well.
NOTE bumper shocks, used, at half price, from 928 intl,
will work just fine,
just wait a few months to buy them

My front end was recently backed into by a guy in a truck. The inner bumper and shocks compressed, but the bumper cover flexed back and besides a couple scratches, hardly looked touched.

Shot of the nose right after the little accident.

Well, that looks remarkably familiar! Seems to be very similar situation to my car.

If you don't have one, next time you're near a Sears (or a computer with access to Amazon) pick up an 8mm Gearwrench, it'll make your life a lot easier for some of the 8mm tapping screws that hold the front bumper cover on.

I do have a cheap set of those...but I was drooling over a set of flex-heads the other day. I may have to spring for those...

Anyone know if it's possible to pull the bumper back out without removing the bumper cover, etc? I'm guessing no...but if I could restore it to it's original position now, and fix it properly later when I get the shocks, that would make me happier....my current method of holding on the grill leaves a little to be desired lol...

I'm pretty sure you can see your bumper shocks through where your grill is.

These pics are from my first compressed bumper (I did this one myself when my house didn't want to move )

I don't know if it can be pushed out without removing the nose.

It looks like I'd be likely to damage the cover if I tried. Oh well...
