I checked the site out and lots of info seems to be behind the members section. Is it worth joining?

Thanks.
The reason I ask is because the content is behind the members only section. If it's good content, I'd be happy to join but have no means to evaluate unless I become a member.

I think there's some info on the site about the the OC value proposition, if that's your question. There's some pretty good stuff in there for members, much of it supporting the part of the OC's mission statement that talks about camaraderie.
The Registry is open to the public, and the Viin Decoder is open to registered site users - neither of which require membership so that may be all you need or want.
The tool loan program, regional assistance info, Dwayne's pdf wriiteups, and the opportunity to volunteer are available to members. All for the price of a set of o-rings for your AC system (as long as you have rear air).
The link is http://928oc.org. Inside there is a link to the actual 928s4Vr.org site which is preserved and maintained by the OC.

Thanks, I'm not sure what the deal is but I have a login but I can't seem to upgrade the membership or access any information with my user id on the site. I'll email the webmaster.

alabbasi,
I don't recall whether Randy has ever been a member or not. But, a very large percentage of people who are members continue to renew their membership annually. Many renew for multiple years at a time. And, their have been a significant number of new members in the past 6 weeks.
Bill Van Vleck commented about the functions and benefits of the 982 Owners Club in a post above, but I want to emphasize the 'support' the OC gives to many regional and the occasional International meet. Significant support is given to nearly a dozen meets each year, and these meets are VERY popular with attendees. They range from the northeast and southeast to the midwest and far west. Even a meet in Canada this past summer. There is NO other automobile 'club' I've been associated with that helps bring people together in groups of 30-100 like the 928 OC does. Yes - PCA has annual meets, but there are perhaps a thousand people at these - nothing like the close camaraderie you'll find at a 928 meet. I feel I've made several dozen new friends around the world as a result of membership in 928 OC and attendance at these meets.
I suggest that any relatively NEW members add their comments - since I'm a 15 year member, and have attended several dozen OC supported meets, perhaps I'm biased!
For the equivalent cost of about 5 Starbucks coffees, join for a year. IF you don't feel you've gotten anything out of it by then (but like most other items in life, to get a lot out of it, you need to put some effort into it), just don't renew!!
PS: The 928 OC has not had an increase in dues since the original founding. Not many organizations can say THAT! And, in my opinion, members are getting much more in return now than they did in the early 2000's.

+1 to what Gary says. Great group of people dedicated to 928 ownership.
Join and go to one of the gatherings, either regional or one of the OCIC's. That will give you a good perspective of the value of the 928 Owners Club.

Not sure what me being a member of 928OC has anything to do with this thread, but I'll answer your question Gary -
I was a paid member of 928OC for awhile. I guess my membership must have expired at some point but I never received any type of communication from the 928OC indicating that or asking if I wanted to renew.

I tried joining but never got an email to activate. Checked spam folder. I must not have passed inspection.

Alabassi,
Thanks for your new membership. The next action you should take is at the top of this page, in the 'sticky' section, and is entitled 'Third Coast'. It is a meet of all the TX guys and a few 'out of state foreigners'. This even is - by all reports - a 928 owners meet that should NOT TO BE MISSED. Hope you can make it your first 928 event - It is supported by your Owners Club, with a few pennies from your membership $!

Randy, Soltino, and Chalkboss (maybe others as well).
Your membership renewals, or the attempt to become a member must have come at a time when the Membership Chair was struggling with internet capability, and had stopped using US Mail as a reminder etc. Unfortunately, this drug on for about 2 years (until ~2007, when I discovered my membership as Treasurer had lapsed, and I'd not been informed)!
Stan Shaw was notified of the membership renewal 'problem' and promptly/significantly upgraded the electronic capability. The follow-on Membership Chair - James Morrison very actively brought the member registration and expiration notification into the electronic age. Current membership is about 2X what it was in 2006. It was shortly after that, when membership started to rise and funds became available that Stan initiated the 'Meet Support" aspect of the Owners Club
Please re-consider membership. IF you have a problem, Bill Van Vlack has been very helpful to those who did (he was one of the 2 or 3 who rebuilt the web site this summer, and did a great job). Just give it a whirl!
