Gentlemen

Thank you all for your input, I'm now a member of the 928OC and the Rennlist. I guess that I've now become a 'Porsche' guy.

Ok Gary. I'll give it another whirl, but my attempt at registering was just four days ago...

Perhaps Ill join up as well and take the Rep position for Norcal? seems to be vacant. Norcal needs more action!

I was a charter member of the 928OC back in the day. The OC kind of went on a hiatus for several years after Phil Tong disappeared and was, apparently, revived as an East Coast centric club. The offer of a "free" T-shirt with renewal really didn't do much to spark my interest, since the OC no longer did anything on the West Coast. Don't know whether it's worth rejoining or not. The NorCal 928 Group is much more relevant to me.

Also a 928 newbie, I attempted to sign up. When I got no response, I used the contact feature to ask about it. I got an e-mail back saying they had manually entered me. There's some good stuff on that site, but it doesn't seem to be very active currently.

Bill Ball had been the Regional Rep for NorCal for some time. I should know (but don't) if that is still the case. Most of that has been run through the Membership chair (Jim Willman) but that is already a HUGE job. I have been trying for 4 years to get a Regional Liaison position filled...that position would be a person who would be the conduit for info to and from the 928OC Board and the Regional Reps across the country.

This is the biggest 928 community in the world (I think) here on Rennlist and we would love to have all of you as part of the 928 Owners Club! We have had significant upgrades over the last 12 months and there have been some growing pains with it, but I think we are just about done with all the craziness and what BVV and Derrick Bass and Austin have come up with is pretty dang awesome!

The club gives back to 928 owners as only a non-profit can. We support your regional events by helping defray the cost of T-shirts and providing 928OC logo gifts for those events. We can't do that if we don't have members paying dues and being active.

WE NEED ALL OF YOU! It's a whopping $28/year (if you pay by check, a bit more if you pay with paypal) and you get a renewal gift each year and your money benefits all 928 fans and owners by keeping the websites up and running and regional events supported! If you can afford a 928 you can afford $28/year. Now that I think about it...that is about half a tank of gas for me at today's prices.

So thanks to all the members who have been loyal and faithful to the 928OC and for those on the fence, now would be a great time to join! Lots of great things happening and we would love to not only have you as a member, but as and active participant!

Oh, to add to Gary's comment, you can't beat the big events that go on that the 928OC sponsors... 3rd Coast in partnership with 928sRus, Sharktoberfest in partnership with 928 International, OCIC (up in Canada this year...wow...wish I could have been there!), the list is long and distinguished, 928 Frenzy, etc. etc. Because of proximity I have been to many 3rd Coast events (at least bits and pieces of them...it is normally an inconvenient weekend for me) and man is that a hell of an event! The OC helps out with T-shirts and usually has a table set up and donates some goodies, but Roger throws a hell of a party and his give away's make the OC's look like chump change! Hats off to Roger and his able crew for making 3rd Coast AWESOME! It is coming up very soon too!!!

My point was that, as a charter member, I didn't leave the 928OC, the 928OC left me. I've seen no reason to rejoin - I've got T-shirts. Still waiting...

Will 928OC be represented at next weekend's Sharktoberfest at 928 International?

Looks like your Rennlist membership has expired recently, James.

I joined years ago (maybe 2007?) and paid for 2 or 3 years.

For US residents it has the tool loaner program which would probably make the membership worth it.

For international members it has little to offer - the only membership free gift worth a damn was the t-shirt - for the first year, it was basically pay $28 for a t-shirt and get a years membership free. After that, I just found myself thinking "I'd rather have had another t-shirt" when the key ring turned up.

I did still have forum access until the recent changeover to the new site, and I bothered to log in and check at least a few times a year to see if there was anything new or relevant. Technical stuff at 928oc just isn't really there - what little tech info last time I checked was just PDF's of Dwayne's pages from the norcal928 website, plus a couple of older articles. For technical resources, rennlist (and rennlist member sites like Pirtle, Sharkskin, v1uhoh etc.), Theo's site, and Nichols' keepers are hugely superior.

Traffic-wise and for help and response-speed, Rennlist still reigns supreme, and its unlikely it will ever be toppled as a 928 support network unless IB really screws up, largely due to the wealth of historical posts plus very active membership. Politics-wise, some weird and some unpleasant stuff surfaced last time there was an election - with all kinds of accusations at event organisers, deleting of posts etc. which underlined to me why I don't pay membership.

Club membership is cheaper than a good bottle of bourbon.

Renewal gets ya a cool gift too. Mag lite, and the logoed bag are the best so far.

Roger, is the bomb, when it comes to giveaways. 3rd Coast is the best too! Owners convention is a great run also.

The 928 OC has become a really good "go to" for valuable information on our cars. Take the time to go and look. They have already incorporated the 928 Registry into the site but much, much more.
As already said YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER to access some really cool information. All you have to do is register.

Want to find all the "TIP" sites in one place - go to 928OC.
Want to check out 928 colors - go to 928 OC
Want to check the Options on your own car - go to 928OC and enter your VIN number.
Want to check VIN series and production quantities - go to 928 OC.
Want to check Engine types by year & model - go to 928 OC

And lots more - they have been very busy behind the scenes.

You do not have to join but think about joining if you find the resource section useful. $28 is a small price to pay so that we can have a wealth of 928 information in one safe place.

You don't like the T shirt or the trinket - opt out so they have more money to invest in the site and support 928 gatherings around the World.

No I am not a member (personal reasons).
No I am not being paid.
I just think that we have a wonderful resource that needs to be used.

Does the OC have a Bosch Hammer in the loaner pool?

If not, maybe the club should consider adding one to the arsenal:
