Durametric worth the money.

I have a durametric tool/dongle-plug hooked up to a generic ebay-sourced round to OBD rectangular connector cable. Connected to '93 GTS
The LED's are blinking green, pink etc. but the tool says cable not ready.
It appears to scan through the module short tests but I can't login to any of the modules and/or see fault codes. The instrument cluster says "Diagnostic Plug In" in red.
Kind of a drag! I am assuming that you need the Durameteric branded convertor cable available in the pro-kit?

You don't need the pro kit to get the early round connector. They offer it for the "enthusiast" kit as well. I would guess that you can get it as a separate item (but that is just a guess).
And I wouldn't be too surprised that you need a specific round plug adapter for the Durametric to work.

RKD, I'd not bother with it on yours as you have Eproms for the ST.
If I didn't have the Bosch KTS I'd have considered it when I bought the Durametric Pro though.

I did a quick pin-out test on the ebay adapter, and without too much further investigation- not sure what pin-out they were aiming for.
However, tomorrow I'll just grab a buddy's cable and do the scan. The kit I have is for my friend's 996 so no point in getting the early cable.

Didn't get a Durametric. Main thing was wanting it for was lowering the ride height on my Cayenne's air suspension. Local shop did it while I waited for $20. Only took them 15 minutes using the PIWIS. With a local shop that does stuff that affordably with the PIWIS makes it not worth spending the money on..
Looks much better 25mm lower.

^^^ Cayenne looks a lot better, wow. Are you less than 4" at the front?
I'm hooked up, here are some screen shots. Going to look at the cable differences too.
You know compared to the space shuttle A8 VCDS I'd have to say it's a bit of a systems anti-climax. Not too much to play with here. Same for the 2003 996, more developed modules but still not much on the menu.
