Durametric worth the money.
Looking at getting the Durameteric diagnostic cable and software for my Cayenne so I can monkey with the air suspension ride height coding and calibration.
For an additional $60 I can also get the ODB cable for my 94 GTS that lets the software read and clear the error codes for EZK, LH, Airbag, ABS/PDAS, RDK and Alarm. It also does activation for brake bleeding and transverse lock.
Is the ability to do that stuff worth $60.

I bought the extra cable with my durametric for the Cayenne. I haven't tried it on the GT yet. Well worth the money for just being able to see fault codes. Actually I will be using it tomorrow as I have a traction control off fault that comes up once in a while. Time to figure it out.

It allows you to open the ABS valve when you bleed the brakes. Supposed to help if after bleeding the brakes you still have excessive travel or a soft pedal after bleeding the brakes normally.

For an '88 you can use the Porsche Spanner/9268 tool, a Bosch Hammer/9288/KTS301, or Theo Jenniskens' UDT999 or PDT999 tool. Or you could just buy a Sharktuner 2, while more expensive it'll have most (all?) of the diagnostic functions that an '88 needs and you get the added bonus of being able to optimize your fuel and timing maps for any performance mods you may have.

Only a Bosch Hammer can clear that code.
