Default Wild Bill Needs Help ASAP

Hey Gang, Wild Bill is in Birmingham AL, with his new Shark, stopped to get something to drink, and upon restart, started surging and died. Won't run. Having trouble getting someone at home on help lists. He's trying the fuel pump relay swap now. Any other Ideas?

Will start, but surges and dies. fuel pump is operating. Trying to check out the idle stabilizer valve next. Any ideas/suggestions welcome.

Well, this might not be too precise, but I bet it's hot in Birmingham. If it were me, I'd push it into the shade, pop the hood and take a slow lunch. My suspicion is a vapor lock, or similar, maybe enhanced by old gas. Or hot electronics. Then, if it started, not shut it off again until I was where I was going.

Was hoping for a CIS system where my experience lies. Sorry!

My guess..Perhaps the MAF..but that really isnt go to help him much if it is. After he shut down the last time, something may have gone "a muck" with the hot wire burnoff or something? Would need one to swap out to try for sure. If it is hot out though, as one mentioned, he may have a bit of vapor lock, after a few start attempts he should have purged the lines of any air though?

keep us posted

Two things to try. If it is the Mass air sensor, you can disconnect the plug at the sensor and the car will operate in a limp home mode. Performance won't be great but should get him to Texas.
The fuel regulator could be shot. It is located at the rear of the passenger side valve cover. Disconnect the vacuum line and smell for gas. If the diaphram is toast you will smell or see gas. Don't know of a fix for this other than to replace.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

Jumpered fuel pump relay socket, it's running! Very soaked and wet (raining). Thanks for all the help. Updates to come.

Did the fuel pump relay die or did the alarm inject itself?

Wild Bill is currently in Lousianna and the Shark is still running well with fuel pump relay socket jumpered. He is going to have a tale to tell, says he can't believe all the people admiring the Shark, and the amount of people trying to get him to race! Stay tuned.

We havent heard about a fire yet so the wire he used to jumper it must be OK. Just testing a few things on my car with a test lead i found the jumper wire got pretty darn warm for the few moments i had it hooked up to test.

Cant he just swap the horn relay?

Wild Bill just called, and he made it home. Maybe after getting some rest and a couple of cold adult beverages he will let us know of his adventure.

I'm home now... Thanks to all that offered their assistance. Special thanks to Tony Tate and Mark Drenzek.

There is so much to tell that I don't know where to start... Probably best to simply start with a new thread or two.
