Those AFBs are pretty good units, make sure the leather on the accelerator pump is snug or she'll bog on you. I had one on a 327-340 Vette motor, it managed to burn most of the gasoline metered through it..

Default what?/

First, I have no affiliation with and never heard of this car.
:-)

Second...what the heck I follow the logic, I'd just see whether a 4 spd or greater can be shoe-horned in there and enjoy the novelty.

Reverting back to normal....er oem...seems like a long and potentially impossible road.

Or just go into one-up mode:

Would dig some pics of that from underneath.

If the 3 speed GM TH350 has to go, the GM 700R4 is a pretty nice unit. It has 4 gears with OD, and lock up. Fairly easy swap depending on the tailshaft of the current unit. Something to think about anyway.

$2k makes this one sound like a great experimental buy. I hope it proves to be a fun project for you. I look forward to hearing how it performs. I'm new to 928s but, from what I've read so far, the development team seems to have worked out stuff like weight distribution to the nearest two decimals. It will be interesting to hear how all of these modifications change things - pro and con.

almost worth preserving as is for a one of a kind car. You could enter tractor pulls with both trannies in low -or pull stumps as a sideline.

I'll bet someone has an early 3spd box lying around you could have for cheap.

Please take lots of pics. They may permanently scar some forum members but we need to see what went on here.

Wow. I went from worrying about getting criticism for my bizarre drivetrain swap to seeing pics of dual superchargers and jet engines. I like this forum. I like it very much.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Car arrives up at the Cape next Monday. I get hands-on the following weekend. Will report back pronto.

Agreed. 700 is a great box and can handle tons of power. But I am thinking (since it's a bastard car anyway) i might go for a manual. I'm much more of a row-your-own guy (and yeah, i know the fact that i now own a car with *two* automatic transmissions is a special kind of irony...)
