*****, there are more events around the country. Hell, I've been up your way two times in the last two years and when was the last time you found your way to Texas?

I attend all kinds of events....just not so many 928 ones.

As for Texas, I have a photo of myself on South Padre Island, I think I was 9 at the time.

Most 928 events coincide with something going on at Road America, so I usually find myself there.

Oh Em Gee... they made those vents by cutting and bending the metal AFTER paint... see the corroding wrinkles at the trailing edges?

Style and taste preferences aside, that is a serious breach of Doing It Right.

I thought I was the only one here recognizing this badge. Once you owned (not so much driven) a Rover SD1, the meaning of the word "reliability" just changes forever.

I kinda like the black inserts around the rear lights. It would have been even better if a similar treatment was given to the frontlights. Sort of eyeshadow. And perhaps some eyelashes in Miura style to complete things.

At one point in time I owned 5 of the 1,400 '70 Rover 3500S's imported into the US. Had a series of 2000TC's before that. Still have a Dover White 3500S waiting restoration (if I ever get around to it) - along with a huge stash of spares....

You must be a brave man!
I had a 3500 SD1, a very early car from the time they went on strike and left the cars half finished and after the strike nobody could be bothered to finish them...

That was the only car I actually didn't buy but found abandoned in a public parking lot. I was 20 years old at that time and thought the car was cool. I decided to rescue it, an undertaking that turned out to be a 10 year long nightmare and I could "enjoy" all the gremlins attributed to Lucas electrics. And yes, it is as bad as they say!!!!

I had the car shortly after Rover was sold to Honda and no dealership could arsed to sell you spares for these older cars.

But when it ran it was a fun car and it made me appreciate the combo of a V8 engine and an auto trans.
The car ended up as a display in a private museum.

Good luck with your restoration!

Sorry for the hijack!
