Does this car know how to party or what? After the morning beach walk in Oceanside I had to zip back up to Precision Motorwerks for some final tweaking. How in the world do you people deal with this traffic?!? Tomorrow morning we start our criss country journey.
Let me say one quick thing about the folks at Precision. They are salt of the earth good people. Greg, Mary and Grant are honest and knowledgeable and they love what they do. I know we have many awesome miles ahead on this trip but it is going to be hard to beat the afternoon we spent with the experts in Anaheim.

Have a safe drive home! Directions... North on 15 to east on 40. Slow down and land when you get to Memphis. Post your schedule, and perhaps meet up with folks along the way. For sure take advantage of your OC membership with the roadhelp lists. Even if you don't need 'help', lots of folks are available to cheer you on.

Out here, in the land of fruits and nuts, we are the rats that live in the too small maze that you learned about in your first year Phychology class.
Because of that, the entire population falls into one of six distinct groups:
1. People that smoke weed.
2. Alcoholics.
3. People addicted to prescription pain killers.
4. People taking Zanax
5. People that take Anti-depressants
6. People that take some sort of Cocaine derivative.
The real problem is when you run into someone who we call a "crossover". This is someone that falls into more than one category on the list.
So, if you find someone on the freeway who is hooked on prescription pain killers, who woke up still drunk from the night before, who smoked some weed to continue the buzz, then swallowed a handful of anti-depressants to deal with being down from the alcohol and the weed, then suddenly remembered that they needed to go to work, so they snorted a couple of lines of Coke to clear their head, before taking some Zanax to deal with the anxiety....you might want to avoid eye contact.

103 in the mountains and we climbed through without much drama. Highway 74? south of Palm Springs would have been way more fun of I weren't stuck behind a Prius. Gotta hit that road real early in the AM. One thing I learned, Fierce doesn't like to climb mountains in that heat with the a/c on. It never overheated but the a/c did cut out for a short spell.
Another little gremlin popped up when the low level fuel light decided to stay on, forever. At least the tank is reading correctly. The idiot light is disconnected for the rest of the trip.
Gauge shot is in the high desert on I-10 west of PHX. Ran 90-100 most of the way and the car felt great. The other shot is in the hotel parking lot in Phoenix.
Gotta get up and out of Phoenix before it hits 103 again. Today is Hwy 87 north to I-40 east, RON Santa Rosa, NM.

Oh! I'm sorry for the brevity of these posts but I'm doing them from my nexus 5. If I was on a laptop I could give you all kinds of witty prose like Mr. Brownbeard above. I did mange to avoid contact with the California mellowed out, hungover, depressed coke head though. And the CHP for that matter;-) Maybe I'll be able to borrow my wife's tonight if we make Santa Rosa at a decent hour.

So I wondered why I haven't been able to get posts out about the trip and I realized I was behind the wheel for 8 hours a day. Poor me. The car, "Fierce", is doing great. It seems as if with every mile it drives better. I got 22 mpg yesterday and today the mountains are all behind us so should be even better. Quick note, premium is 3.18/gal 20 miles east of Albuquerque in Tijeras.
Yesterday's big attraction, other than an awesome chorizo burrito at Pinon Café in Payson, was the Petrified Forrest/Painted Desert NP in NE AZ. This is a 28 mile drive that everyone should experience once in their life. The desert scenery and colors defy description. Indeed scores of artists and scribes have tried in vain, you just have to be there in person.
I've got lots of pics and videos to post at a later time but here are a couple from the park. Today's big attraction will be the Palo Duro Canyon south of Amarillo, TX.
