Default Shifts Better Now

This is very good gear oil IMO for our trans-axles.

MUCH better shifting right out of the driveway.

I could feel a big improvement immediately.

I highly recommend, was using fresh Mobil 1 LS 75W90 Sythetic.

Picked package deal of (3) Redline NS up on ebay.

Found out this stuff works great for earlier trans-axles w/ syncros like in my MY '83 from a person with a 944 and a '82 928 5-speed. He is right.

Note: My Mobil 1 LS 75W90 synthetic that was drained was about 8 months old and had maybe 500 miles on it.

I will keep an eye on the box to see if any leaks develop.

My trans has none presently.

Take care down under drnick
Matt

For the record, in case the picture gets lost, Matt's picture is of a quart jug of:
Red Line Synthetic Gear Oil NS (75W90) Non-Limited Slip

Not the first time I've heard it recommended and testified to.

+1, same here. Not long after I got my GT 14 years ago, switched the gear oil out to Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic. For me it was almost too slick and was having occasional grinding of the gears on shifting. Someone here recommended Red Line. I changed out the Mobil 1 to Red Line and it made an immediate difference on how smooth the gear change was. Been using it and recommending it ever since.

Great to read, I was surprised how much better it went into 2nd right
after start up. It's better from 3rd to 2nd too.
I think for 928s from MY '80? to '84 the NS is the way to go for
slow engagement issues.
I understand the very early cars may require
a different oil.

here is the best deal i found.
Shipped pretty quickly and packaged well.

Back in my RX-7 days, people would swear by either the Redline or the Royal Purple gear oil. Anyone tried Royal Purple in these cars? I ask because I was cleaning out my garage and found some :-)

Before rebuilding my transmission, my second and third gears grinded really bad when, I drained whatever crap the PO had in there and put in the redline stuff. I had noticeable improvement right off the bat and improved even better when warm. It didn't solve all my problems but it extended the transmission until I could rebuild it...

I am going to be changing my transmission oil this weekend to Redline on my 89.
