Someone spent a good deal of $$ putting rear quarters and S4 bumper on this early car.
Right again! I suppose in a broad context an 87 Porsche could be considered an "early car," and the "someone" who spent the $$ putting the rear quarters, bumper, hatch and a whole lot of other S4 stuff on this car was obviously the factory. Nice call.

Actually looks like you were right Jerry, from what I'm reading it was someone who has an '87 titled S4 put a front end from an early car. I don't even know what to think of this one.
Hope it's savable.
For the record in a fun way just to **** off James

So the car had no rims... once again turned to craigslist. Found a local salvage yard that happened to have a 83 928, with four rims and tires. First price they gave was $265... got em for $150.
So.. you're telling us you bought a 32v S4 for $200? That's AWESOME! Lots of great parts at a minimum. Sweet! The intake/cam covers/waterbridge and crossbrace are worth $600 alone.. Nice.
In New Jersey... yeah I didn't like seeing that 83 shoved in the corner. Nobody puts baby in the corner!!! I am excited, going to give a good scrub tomorrow. See what under all that "tree dust"!!! More pictures and updates to follow. Thanks !!!!
Don't get too anxious to start it though, many practical and safety issues before pressurizing old rubber hoses with gasoline, or turning the cams with an ancient timing belt.
