This guy had it listed in Connecticut last week, email to see the car, and the person emailed me for my email address to send more pictures. I think its just to collect email addresses?

I always like f&*ck with these guys when I get the chance...send some fake faxes, etc. I had one guy running to pick cash at the western union one time and then got pissed when it wasn't there... ahh fun times...

That house and that driveway regularly shows up on eBay with a very desirable car in the driveway for sale.

Usually it is a late model 928.

In fact I have copied some of the pics off the eBay ads (over the years, about 7years I think) and used them as screen savers anticipating the day when I would buy one too.

I always assumed the eBay ads were legit. In fact the ads were connected with a website for an auto sales shop in the US (I am in Canada).

I still have pics of a '95 but it was going for somewhere in the high $30s way back in 2007.

Some of the ads are legit. Willhoit will put his cars up on eBay from time to time.

But his cars usually are priced at or above market value. Never a "super deal."

Edit to add:

Here's one. Same house, very nice car, not cheap. And Willhoit is clearly identified as the seller.

There's also currently a scam ad for a 93 GTS on the Autoexplosion website. The ad has the car placed in Dearborn, MI, but after an inquiry about when the best time to stop by and look at the car in person would be, I was THEN told that the car was ACTUALLY in Portugal.

Now sensing a scam, I decided to play along and asked when a good time to stop by in Portugal would be since I actually DO have a friend/gearhead currently stationed in Spain not far from the location the seller stated who I'm sure would be willing to make such a trip to view a vehicle in person for me.

Please note that with every response to my messages, the seller was CONSTANTLY asking for a phone number for either me or my friend so that meeting somewhere to view the car could be arranged, but before I bothered my friend on the slim chance that the seller WAS actually legit, I asked for a current picture of the car parked near a well known landmark or street sign in the city in Portugal the seller told me the car was located.

The seller raised quite a fuss right away at what seemed like an easily satisfied request to me, but I persisted, and haven't received a reply since. Maybe I inadvertently stumbled onto an easy way to get probable scammers to STOP contacting me and trying to lure me in?

Maybe we should all start inquiring about this vehicle...
