Default Can I delete my center console warning light?

I pulled my console apart to replace the radio, pull out the 80's-era cell phone wiring, and clean up the window/sunroof switches (lost a ball bearing on one, but that's another story).

The warning light bar has a broken mounting hole, so it's only attached on one side. I get intermittent seatbelt alarms while driving, generally when hitting a bump and regardless of if the passenger seat is occupied.

What is the downside of deleting this alarm bar and replacing it with a blank section of plastic?

Alternately, I could put it back in (maybe epoxying something in to hold it in place better) and just disconnect the seatbelt alarm. I see two connectors on the back of the bar. Is one of them the seatbelt alarm, and the other the master caution?

Help (as always) appreciated!

Shawn

That bar has the AC switch and door lock button on it as well, are you not needing those functions?

Mine doesn't. It only has the master caution and the seatbelt light, and that's it. My A/C controls are with the rest of the climate control module, and I'm not certain I have a door lock button.

Here's how mine looks: http://www.ebay.de/itm/PORSCHE-928-S...-/321275822272

Based on this diagram, there were several that could slot in there. Mine is style 5c:

Shawn,
There is one currently on ebay. It might be better then all the fabrication required for a blank piece.

Thanks, I'm watching it now.

That, however, doesn't solve the problem of the intermittent seatbelt alarm while driving. I'd still like to solve (disable) that.

Won't you still need a way to cancel/acknowledge the warning light in the pod "!" or don't you have that?

After replacing missing bulbs in my pod, I had a warning lights in the gold 86.5, couldn't cancel the master until I fixed the broken center warning unit.

Remove the buzzer. Sounds like you have a bad seatbelt switch.

That seatbelt light also plugs in independently and can simply be left unplugged as well if you decide to go that way

Some of these assemblies are still available at Porsche and fairly cheap considering ($60.00) if memory serves

The delay relay is both the buzzer and driver for the seat belt warning lights - pulling it defeats the seat belt light and buzzer sound.
