The heads were milled twice. It was done a couple years ago at Huntley and again this time around. I don't know exactly how much was taken off but the heads were cc'd at 38cc.

if they were milled twice they are not 38cc! bone stock average s 38.233, and they range by about +/- 1 cc.

Did the engine builder do the cc'ing of all components? Or did they just accept the numbers from whomever..??

Mark, the engine is a 110mm bore over 92mm stroke and is a little under 7 ltrs at 6994.5 ltrs. It made 520 on 93 Oct fuel. We are hoping to close the deal with a customer now on the same size engine for competition use which we will look for 700-800 HP to be used in a road race car. We never really pushed the street motor much since it was too much for the application as it was. We focused more on mid range TQ and HP than all our power. I really look forward to the race 7.0 ltr if it happens.

Neat...can you post the dyno sheets?

110mm bores....steel sleeves sinc ethe cylinder to cylinder spacing is a mere 11mm, that means that tower/cylinder bore is only 5.5mm thick.

Interesting street engine.....how many miles on the engine an what climate is the customer in ???

Yep, I'll dig them up. The sleeves are ChMo Matrix. All the cylinders are located nearly 360 deg around the deck surface and are flange cut to but together which all in all locates the cylinders far better than stock and minimizes cylinder 'walking' as in stock blocks. As you are aware the strength of ChMo vs Aluminum is tremendous requiring far less wall thickness for a given load. We feel we are being very conservative with the above set-up and would like to push it a bit more with an engine we own. Hmmm I do have that chop top wide body 914 that needs and engine. A 7.2 ltr would go nicely in there!

Holy schmoly, that's 424(..7.0L) and 437(..7.2L) cu in; WOW!

Congratulations; how come we haven't heard of the 7.0L 'til now? That is most definitely 928 news-worthy.

Can you please post your dyno results as soon as possible?

We have a very well known list of 944 goodies from our mail-order business but our shop does more 911 business than 944 these days and in there is the 928 stuff as well. You may have seen some tid bits from our supercharger 928 project or the heads we have always done or cams etc... The 7.0 ltr was a direct branch off of our 944 big block program. It used parts we have had for years for those engines. The piston design was changed and this and that but the cylinders were available which are the tricky parts for this kind of thing. The crank was custom made as well as the rods we had made. We are about a year behind in making both our 911 and 928 engines mailorder crate motors like the 944 units are now. Suffice to say we can build these when ordered but not in the time frame it takes for a mailorder 944 engine right now. Anyway I don't want to keep you guys waiting on the dyno chart so I will get it scanned in tomorrow (I never use that thing and have to re-install the software to make it work).

The last I remember hearing was that there was a cracked engine block with the supercharged 928 project you were doing. Any news on another supercharger installation on a 928 since then?

Nothing new. We are waiting for a Beta car for in house installation and tuning before we can proceed.

Derrick ..."We are waiting for a Beta car " ........... Based on some of what you have listed on your websight It sounds more like an Alpha car project to me !!!! . An interesting project to me would be to have Moldex make a "flat crank" which allows you to run the real exact 944-968 camshafts heads etc. and literally run the engine as two 4 cylinder engines . That also sounds very good as well . The reason the IRL V-8 engines no longer sound like NASCAR was the change to the flat crank ....we perceive the firing to be a much higher RPM than the normal Chevy v-8 sound . However running without any balance shaft to offset the imbalance of two " in line 4 cylinder engines " joined at 90 degrees to a common crank probably means race engine only .

Alpha, beta, we need a car not getting a big block 928 motor for the supercharged kits. What the car needs to be is a stock 32V 928 with zero pre-existing issues please!! I posted pics of the kit and the car with the kit installed a few months ago and yet to see a brave soul stepping up to the plate!
