Good BBQ right in the terminal. Look on the wall chart for a major BBQ house. Not Chili's.

Can someone or Laura help with below?

Posted in the Lotus FB page about joining up and quite a few already interested! Can you send me links to the DFW site, dates of meets, etc. so I can get over to them?

Thanks!

Haley and I just got back.

Thanks Roger, Zane, Laura, Mike, and rest of the DFW crew for organizing this event every year. Its always a great weekend. Even better this year with no mechanical issues whatsover on the ~3k mile round trip.

Hope to see everyone before this time next year.

All the best,
Hans

Default from a new guys point of view...

Yes a good time. And yes, thanks to all.

Myself? As I dont drink much ( and most of this event is about drinking ), and I dont drive well, (thanks to Patrick for pointing that out), I was only there to take my nasty ol' car to the show.

I certainly loved the driving part, and for us who had never driven their car before this weekend, (mine is five months in my possession and in the garage the whole time) Mike (GRP III ) set a very comfortable pace. However, I'll know next time that the 4 second rule is out the friggin' window, only new guys follow the rules!! (stay off the brakes and don't wait for the guy behind ya, makes ya look slow...er!!)

Even though not a drinker, I had a really good time at the booze stops (vineyards, I mean). The first one hooked me and Carole up with Patrick and Lynn, and a good bottle of Peach Wine. Thanks also to Patrick for having the last two bottles in his grasp and allowing my wife to buy one of them from him. I cant believe they get almost $100 a bottle for that stuff! But that's what the wife said she had to pay. (?)

Lunch was great food! Some kinda...well...I'm not sure what it was, 'cause it disappeared from my plate almost instantly. I was hungry. I think there were potatoes in it. And there was puddin' !

After that, a full belly and a warm car (heat was stuck on) and I slept most of the way to the last boozer...Carole said I almost hit a guardrail...she is widely known for her embellishment.

More booze, pumpkin chunkin', grass sittin', music listenin', and some alternator repair to let the alcohol dissipate and off we went for the hotel.
John says, "c'mon pat, let's go"...and he disappeared...or maybe I fell asleep again. Anyway I was by myself leaving Fredericksburg, and shot a text to Sean and Roger to let someone know to let someone else know I wasn't lost.

I had just rounded the turn heading north on 281, when I heard a woman's voice say through the radio..."we'll turn left, north on 281". I looked behind me and here they came. So I "joined the party" once again!

There was a happy hour that I skipped (more booze!!) and a great dinner...though served in a style ...I'm not sure I've ever seen before. Roger took my beer to beat on with his fork and I don't think I ever got it back. "New guy hazing" I guess.

Now being new, I spent most of my time asking where to go and how to get there at what time! So...a special thanks to Mike and Laura, not as much for the event (of course that), but for answering my constant questioning. Nothing makes a new guy feel "new" like having to ask 32,454 questions in 72 hours!! Thanks Mike, I know I was buggin' ya, but ya always smiled!

Also a thanks to Sean for working on my pod...9 times in the 2 days before the event...when he was ill. Maybe because he was ill. And for calming me down when I was freaking out about that speck of dust on my car that would prevent a good showing! And of course to Roger, yes for the event, but also for stopping his own pre-event work to get me my last minute parts (by the way that stupid window triangle thingie broke again).

Also to Simon for showing me how to fix the gas cap bib moments before the judging (and not making me feel like a squid), and of course to Mr. Curry for the candle lit dinner (don't think I've ever said that to a man before), and thanks to all of you who stopped by and told me how beautiful the car was, makes a guy feel good.

but here's the big one. My wife, who has followed me through 3 decades of racing, and made thousands of pancakes and sandwiches for me and my friends, wanted to make sure I told all of you that she felt very welcome and appreciates the warm welcome she got from the other gals there. Thanks to all you girls from me as well, not only for dressing up the crowd a bit but also for convincing Carole to let me go again!

Certainly we could all sit here and say thanks to everyone but it would need it's own forum before it was really enough. So...PICS!

At this point in my life, I think I like being called Mr. Curry. (Well, I like it a lot better than what most of you normally call me.) Thank you, Pat.

Wasn't it was your anniversary, Pat? I thought a little candlelight in the intimate setting of 100 people might just get you some points with your wife later.

As for the drinking/boozing and carousing: I just wanted you all to know that I don't drink as a habit, just as a rule.

A great time was had by everybody that made it to the GTG as far I could see.

I especially enjoyed the folks we don't get to see much. People like Colin, Stan, Hans and Hailey, Glen, Beerfish, Brett, Malcolm and Daphne. I hope every one of you had a good time and come back soon. You know you would always be welcome.

I can't wait until Don Carter posts the GoPro results online. We were watching it in the parking lot Saturday night after dinner and Rhonda asked me if it was speeded up. The answer was no, we were really going that fast.

Just rolled into Atlanta. I can certainly agree with all the sentiments shared above by Patman, Hans and all the others!

As another new guy who got his car off the left Tuesday night, I can say that one, these are a helluva lot of fun to drive and I will be there next year, 15 hour drive included!

Great meeting everyone!

We are now home after a long delayed travel day but we're safe and sound albeit a little cool.

Such a fantastic 12 days we had; Formula 1 at COTA, Alamo and river cruise in San Antonio, USS Lexington at Corpus Christi, hanging with the 928 Rockport folks, BBQ in Lockhart, downtown Austin 6th street for some tunes then Marble Falls for a tremendous 3rd Coast event.

Fantastic to meet folks from previous events and getting to meet new.

Many thanks to all and especially Tony and Tembra for our awesome stay down in Rockport and to Roger for the Weissach which we drove for 1800 flawless miles in total and to his family for their hospitality on our last night in Texas.

3rd Coast was a blast; thx Laura, Mike, Roger, Jim, Chuck and all others who helped out......bravo

We shall return

btw.....did I mention its cools here? -17C and lots of snow!!!

What a great weekend. As everyone else has commented, just a super group of people. Thanks to Roger, Laura and everyone else who helped organize the event. Looking forward to next year.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone. Third Coast is the best, as Roger says "it's about the people" and that's true, but it's also about the drive. After lobbying to regain my Group I status, (how you like me now, Andy), I'm sure I was still smiling when I fell asleep Saturday night.

Stan, you sir are a class act. Enjoyed talking with you.

For those who didn't know or couldn't remember, To The Left this is a Brian Urlacher jersey.

Thanks Pat for the kind words. Cool picture of the group headed over the bridge!!

There is no such thing as bugging me at these events. Meeting new friends and making all newcomers feel welcome is very important to me. I'm sure all the regulars feel that way too.

Thanks to my destroyed pinkie finger on my shifting hand, that slowed me down a little bit on the drive. I hope the pace wasn't to slow for anybody. I had my son shifting for me at times to give me a break....really wishing I had brought the turbo roger box after the first few miles lol.

Despite the trashed finger, I had one of the best times this year-I think. After 9 of them, things start to get a little fuzzy.

A few quick pictures from my phone.

1. Some of the women of 3rd Coast

2. Parking lot party

3. More parking lot party

4. I always wind up with extra booze, coolers, and now chairs. If these belong to anybody, shoot me a PM and I will get these chairs back to you.

Mike (KillaV),
The drive route was great! If Jim had a decent navigator though, we wouldn't have missed the turn that took us virtually to San Antonio.(Just kidding Bilal. I didn't mind the extra excursion at all and it all happened SO fast, we didn't even know )

Thanks to you, Laura, and Michael for sharing the party trailer with everyone. The midnight Frito pie was freaking awesome this year!

No doubt, how did I forget the Frito pie? It was the best ever, at least at midnight. It didn't feel so good during the night though :-)

Mike, did you break your finger swiping chairs or is there a better story?
