Just arrived in Vicksburg on drive back to Atlanta and am getting to understand first hand what Porsche was thinking about when designing a grand touring vehicle! After 8-1/2 hrs it was actually very comfortable and she definitely likes to cruise above 80. I had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. I look forward to next year! Great group of people and I appreciate all the pointers I received over the past 3 days!

I'm about to turn 69, so I suspect I have had better weekends in my life but, understandably, can't remember when. The closest I seem to recall happened about 47 years ago when I spent a large part of the weekend naked. But I'm not sure I grinned as much that weekend as I did this one.

It was my first time to meet a big chunk of the 928 family. Wow! Smart, funny, friendly and caring people all! It was my first weekend to really drive my 928 with gusto and, wow, what a car! At the end, I even drove away with a couple of things I'll be proud to have hanging on my home office wall for the rest of my life.

Many thanks to all for your friendship and help this weekend. Special thanks to Roger and his cohorts for setting it up and managing. Very special thanks to Mr. Merlin for pulling out my tool kit and tweaking a lot of things I might have caught later on my own, but probably would not have until damage had been done.

I feel absolutely blessed to have found my 928 at a really low point in my life. But I am also awed by the blessing of it leading me to this family.

Please excuse me for gushing so. I am normally much more curmudgeonly, as befits my advanced age.

Brad

Brad (aka oldfrat) -

Thank you for joining us this weekend. As I mentioned on Sunday, my 928 and the DFW crew changed my life. We are family and it seems like there is some 928 gathering every weekend in your neighborhood so don't be a stranger. The Christmas party is at my home on December 13. Congratulation winning your class and The People's Choice awards.

We are all very sorry for your recent loss. Call me if I can be of help #817.948.8538.

Seriously, this is why that I drive down I35 at night vs. 281 if I can't make the daytime drive with the rest of you. There are SO many deer on 281, I just want to minimize the exposure.

What a fantastic time. I think this one will be the most memorable to date, although slightly freezing Friday night, the weather was just perfect all weekend long. Many new faces this year and as always the people are what make this such a fun time. Personally, it was fantastic having others around that could work on cars, it was the first time in years that I wasn't spending all my time under someones car, so huge thanks to Stan and Colin for digging in and taking care of business when needed.

Sadly we had several with damage from our local forest rodents (deer) and rocks cracking windshields. A couple of guys had break downs with things like an alternator, relays, and one torque tube having its bearings let go. Sounds like everyone has made it home except for those that had 15 hours to drive home. Huge thanks to everyone for being smart and careful on the drives. The drives this time were great, thanks to Mike for putting together another wonderful set of roads. Some of us got to take detours and find other spots to flex our cars. (cough, Jim, cough)

The quality of cars was amazing, I get to see a lot of them on a frequent basis and those that I don't, were of the highest quality. It's nice seeing what each person has done to make their car, their own. Keep it up guys.

Now for some pictures.

Rogers GTS has been in store for about a year and we recently woke her up, last minute things being done by Stan, Colin, Bilal, while a few of us watched.

The drive down was a lot of fun, a group of us got yanked over by the local LEO's. I think they tagged us for 83 in a 50. I used my last get out of jail free card that day. Couldn't find my insurance card and my registration had expired a couple of days before the trip. Didn't notice that until heading out of town that morning.

view from Dr. Brents car.

Colins vac system being touched up on Rogers car.

After we got the Marble Falls a few of us headed over to Chli's and sat on the deck for some pre-gaming.

Dinner at River City Grill

Two amigos Chuck and Jarrod

No Friday night parking lot party pictures, it was pretty quiet, cold and no arrests.

Saturday morning groups lining up for the 220 mile drive.

First stop, Olive Company. Group 1, we didn't stay long as we were early and they were not open yet. Groups 2 and 3 did stay and hang out.

2nd stop. Texas Hills Vineyards

Hans, great to see the two of you again.

Malcom and Jim

Saturday night Happy Hour at the local Dinner Theater. The place had to have been 100 years old, still had the steam powered projector in there.

Great location

Stan was moving so fast he was blurry

Buncha drunks

Don't have many pictures of Sundays picnic, hope others got more.

Congrats to all the award winners, great cars. It was great seeing everyone again and meeting the new members.

Thanks to everyone for making this the great event that it is, it just seems to get better each year, looking forward to the 15th Annual 3rd Coast event.
