Automatic trans shift ****
Does anyone know if these press down to shift ***** are still available? (No button)
I had read they were sold by a gentleman in Australia named Rick Heaney, I tried sending him an email that I obtained from an ad on landsharkoz.com
eheaney@bigpond.net.au
However the email bounced back unable to deliver.
Carl use to carry them as well but I don't see them offered on his site any longer.
Any leads would be appreciated, or if someone happens to have one in great condition they would care to part with let me know.
Thx

Rick disappeared and no one could contact him about the shifters.
Paul was the last to have them for sale so he is your best bet.

Check with Paul. I know they could exist. I helped redesign the internal mechanism, and have a box of a couple hundred custom springs here on my desk for that purpose....

Rick is into building boats these days and had to give up on the 928 bits. I talked to him recently on behalf of someone else here but he really doesn't have the time. Pity because I have 2 of his shifters and would love a third.

I love mine on the 86.5, but the outer layer of vinyl (very thin) did peel off years ago. I has an upholstery shop spray a new coating on it and it's been great since. I have a leather boot and everyone thinks it's a 5 speed when they see it.

That was me ramcram, and thanks again for taking the time.
There are handles with a similar design on ebay for other muscle-car type applications, I bought one to try to adapt but havent' done so. I'm sure Hans' are far superior to a mcgyver approach.
If no one else will pick it up FORAC, maybe it could be run by garage9 as an additional offering, or if a group-buy were to galvanize. Open questions are shift handle options, cost, among other things. Would be nice to have the option back, though.

There was a 928 guy in Hollywood who was working with one of the OC locals to get some of these into production. I've kinda lost touch with that group though. Saw the prototypes as they were finalizing the bushings, they looked and worked great when I saw them. Let me see if I have any contact info...

If you can get one, I highly recommend it. It's such an ergonomic improvement over the factory one. But don't put the 5-speed shifter boot on it or you will get a guy called Brutus saying you are a poser.
