To modded for my taste. Why on earth would you paint the top of the engine?

The little round thing that goes on the actual hot post is the "Cap."

The boxy thing that goes over the whole area, especially the 14 pin is the "Cover."

There a many many cars with different colored intakes (and often cam covers too). If you aren't a purist - why not?

Some alternate colors and finishes help to keep the engine looking nice withoiut continual cleaning and some avoid the surface imprefections that are very common.

Much of this refinishing work is initiated by the factory finish cracking and falling off in big chunks - esp. on the S4/GT/GTS intakes. Well before point that it start to discolor anyway...

The best jobs are well prepped & powdercoated and should last at least as well as the factory finish - painted intakes probably won't fare as well.

Since its not possible to powdercoat plastic - its highly likely this job was all painted.
