Hi,
I just got a deal on a pair of new front shocks. They were advertised as Boge but turn out to be the Sachs Super Touring. I realize that Sachs and Boge are both ZF and the product lines are supposed to be equivalent. These are the later 87-up gas charged application.
The shocks arrived extended, without the retaining wrap that I am used to seeing on new shocks, is this typical? Seems to fit the box the way that they are.
Also, there is a slight amount of lubricant at the shaft and top of the shock. It appears as though it might be something put on the shock to preserve during storage. COuld this bet he case or is it an outright defect? When I compress the piston, I don't see any fluid coming out.
Thanks

Sachs is the current name - always are extended and no retaining strap - no leaks and you are good to go.

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

Thanks Roger! I think it may've been some coating for the rod in case of extended storage. If they were heavy handed with that and tossed them in the box that would make sense. Thanks for the clarification regarding being extended. Email to follow sepcor for the associated install needs.
