Nothing synthetic for my car yet. Still using the best of 'normal' oil products. At least a 15/40.

The manual that came with the car is pretty clear about which oil is the best to use...

Nobody talks about castrol 10w60..i guess why.
Anyway I'll put Mobil in my 928 engine, after using elf. Good oil, but suffer from hot summers...

And the manual also specs DexII (sperm whale oil-free) for the trans (in my m/y). That isn't all that practicable or optimal now, is it.

Pretty sure that the manuals vary depending on model and country. My uk 1990 manual calls synthetic oils superior oils and recomends either 5w40 or 5w50 synthetics all year around. Other oils in the manual are dependant on climate.

1990s climate or post 2015?

Hey, what could make an oil thread more fun than a climate change reference?

My work is done here.

my head spins at 7k rpm's reading these oil threads. My 928 cents, as far as the mid '80s years, a conventional 20w-50 oil designed for high rpm engines. The engine was designed to run on oil technology of the '80's.

You can get 15W50 or 20w50 in Europe, these are great for hot summers. Fuchs/Titan, Valvoline, Motul for example.

check this site out. I have been using Lubriguard for the 10 years in my commercial vehicles and for the past 3 years in the 928. Really good stuff as the test bear out.
