Default anyone using ECS Tuning for parts

I have been buying my BMW parts from ecstuning.com and I would like to know if anyone has used them for Porsche parts. I saved bucket loads of money compared to local supply

Besides I sell a ton of BMW parts 8>)

Welcomed to the Shark tank.

You are in very good company in both Perth and Tasmania - lots of really nice 928 owners. Have you found Landsharks yet?

Best,
Roger

Don't forget to average in the cost of getting the wrong parts to fix the problem when buying outside the group of knowledgeable vendors.

One thing to keep in mind when bying 928 parts is that a lot of standard vendor catalogs have errors. I don't know if this is because 928s were fairly limited in production, becasue they haven't been made for 20 years, or because Porsche made so many mid-cycle changes to things like timing gears (square teeth vs. round teeth) cam gears, water pumps, tensioners, belts, etc. Along those lines, several parts have been superceded with new part numbers.

You can sometimes save a few bucks with larger high volume vendors, but eventually it will bite you and you end up wasting time with a sitting car and sending back parts, trying to get things sorted out.

The Big Three, which are actually four I guess, (referenced by Roger above) are on the forum almost every day providing useful feedback and information on both old products, replacemenet parts for things which are NLA, and new products that are always in development for the 928. Without them, many of these cars would have turned into junkyard heaps long ago - so Rennlist is very supportive and appreciative of these guys.

Good luck in your 928 projects. This forum contains a wealth of knowledge unlike I've found in any other car community.

You also have to be very careful with Chinese cleverly counterfeited parts. There are a ton of them out there flooding the parts market and you are better off sticking with the vendors mentioned above. I learned early on that it does not pay to try and "get a deal" on Ebay. You end up with a piece of crap part that does not fit, work, or last (take your pick).
Just my experience.

I have used ECS tuning for many various makes of parts over the years BUT only for factory parts . I own an automotive business and have a wholesale account with most of my local dealers. With that said, ECS is typically about 25 percent off dealer list and sometimes more on select parts (big savings on BOSCH). I always type a part number directly into search as there catalog is a bit fluky.

Our vendors are excellent and typically very competitive, so be sure to use them whenever possible as they know the product best especially with any aftermarket offerings

I'd just like to say that we try to have the most accurate catalog possible, so if you notice any errors, let me know and we will promptly correct it. We are continually updating our catalog, but a lot of 928 parts have not been categorized yet, so if you don't see an item listed, shoot us an e-mail at sales@ecstuning or give us a call at 1.800.924.5172 and we will be more than happy to help. Thanks

thanks for the great bit of feedback with regard to parts and will certainly keep in mind what you have said and even though I paid only $2250 for it I dont intend to take shortcuts with bringing her back to former glory.

I'm extra cheap and look up the OEM part number and find the company with the lowest price, hasn't bit me yet.

But it is generally best to use the main parts vendors to buy your parts as you are guaranteed to get the correct part at one of the best prices.

It also doesn't hurt to support the people who have helped keep the 928 community afloat.

More than a few places will drop-ship parts they order for you blind, making a little brokerage money in the process. OK I guess --IF-- you know the exact and most current part number, and you're sure that there isn't a third-party or other OEM part that's better. Our specialist 928 vendors seem to have a better handle on what works best, and offer a choice between factory pieces (when available), OEM or other aftermarket sources. Last but not least, the "practicality" of owning and driving interesting cars is very dependent on availability of reliable parts and service. It's in our collective best interests to support the specialist vendors that support us.

ECS Tuning is a sponsor here, so perhaps they will see fit to build a staff that's 928 saavy beyond reading the factory catalog, to the support level we've come to appreciate from the current Big 4+ we enjoy here currently.
