Default I did it

I have been looking for an 86 1/2 for two years. Today I bought this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Porsche...vip=true&rt=nc

Really excited about joining your community. I do have a question. Does anyone ever take the spoilers off the post 1980 models ? I think it looks better without them.

Nice ride. Congrats, and welcome

Lots of people have removed the spoilers...search around, you'll find plenty of tips and tricks.

Spoilers are removed often. Just be prepared for rust and the cost of new window seals, new quarter windows, new trim, paint, and bodywork to plug the holes left by the spoiler mounts.

Sorry to scare you a little. BTW nice car

It looks like you have purchase a fine example. I would get to know the car mechanically before modding the body too much. Each model/generation of the 928 are beautiful, each in their own way.

Congrats, welcome!

Re: T-belt, "did it myself", "about 10 years ago", "thingy" to set the tension...go there first to avoid catastrophe.

Then, despite low miles, you're up for fuel and vacuum lines. The interior looks great, but that engine compartment....a quck clean up to see whether the paint on the inner fenders aligns with the exterior will be helpful. A lot of oil around the intake clamps and check for the o-ring under the fill cap and whats with the blistering on the air filter housing? A/C inop- check the integrity of the aluminum tube that runs along the pass fender, some chafe through due to contact with head. Not a small matter to resolve.

Seems like a good deal- I'd definitely head the advice about a PPI, given 928 Intl is right down the street I'm sure there is ample talent available to inspect on your final pick-up or prior to transport pick-up, to ensure condition and odometer are consistent. Interior sure looks terrific and seems to support it!

Of the 4 black-over-tan 86.5s currently on fleabay, that one is the best. Congrats!

Welcome aboard!

Looks like a good one, unusual interior scheme.

Where are you located? Got a first name?

My name is Jamie and I live in Arkansas. I'm curious if there are any members close to Little Rock ? Also I noticed that there is a **** missing in the third pic next to the drivers seat. What is that and where can I get a replacement ?

That is the speaker fader, the missing **** is either under the seat, or inside the E brake lever compartment.
