Worth looking at next time you are in a Lowes- they have them out & plugged in.
Should be similar at Home Depot as well if that is handier. In the last year the LED stuff have greatly improved and we are just now seeing the large emitter stuff made for the household light bulb replacements showing up in other devices.

Those old halogen's are super hot, and burn 500 watts of power.

Two of the handiest cheap lights are the HF 27 LED pucks that are free with a coupon or $3 on sale, and the Larry lights which are about $9 and look like a big pocket clip pen.

One light almost never puts light everywhere I want it, so I tend to use several at a time, often with a headband mounted light to put light right where I am looking hands free.

i've got one like this now but it gets hot as the sun!

Randy - I think everyone has one of those... but like you say hot - you can easily cook stuff with it, sometimes you even end up cooking yourself!

I think these give off a lot of UV emissions as well...

Comes with the 110 volt cord attached and a separate 16 foot 12 volt cord that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket. Uses a rocker switch to select voltage. It's 700 lumen & light color 4000k. Very bright! Runs so cool you can hold it. The feet fold to any position. Very thin. Specs here:

Ordered this light at lowes.com on 7/24, the day Jim posted it and arrived today. Throws out plenty of bright white light for engine bay, interior, etc. Much better than the standard droplight, etc.02 T
