I'm getting back to replacing my engine harness connectors. Every one so far has had some type of epoxy lined heat shrink tubing under the rubber boot. Is this the way they come from the factory?

Looks different from mine, but yes they have some kind of epoxy. Careful operation with a blade is needed. Isn't it fun

Yeah. I've been using a heat gun to release the epoxy. It works pretty well. I bought the tool to release the pins but I've yet to get one out successfully.
