For all
1 US gallon = 3.785 liters
1 Imperial gallon = 4.546 liters
therefore the 928 has a fuel capacity of 22.72 US gallons as Wally stated
and 18.92 Imperial gallons.

PLEASE do not try this at home !!! you will get FLOODED with fuel ! ever notice how the fuel fill door is above the level of the FLOOR !!! So clearly above the fuel sender in the tank BELOW the floor of the cargo area.....Yes it would need to be very full

.., absolutely right James, few years back I had to remove the sender, and a hell of a lot of gas came out, hence my apprehension about filling the tank, if I,m going to have remove the sender. I guess 4 gall should tell me if it,s gonna work !

Digital dash cars have a calibration function built into the dash cluster for the fuel tank and mileage calculation. Sounds like your car needs to be calibrated.

When calibrated correctly with 15L of fuel in the tank, then when it says zero range, it means zero. Note than when there's fuel in the tank, the range remaining is affected by the fuel usage (i.e. the injector pulse duration), so for non stock injectors, will read incorrectly, but that error tends to zero as the tank empties.

Well, first opportunity I,ve had since the car came back, put approx 12 galls in, and the needle is registering slightly above half way, main thing is that the gauge is working and that the shop indeed did not dismantle it for any reason.

When I put the gas in I was able to watch the gauge, ign on, and after approx 3 gallons I had a reading, switched it off, and after filling, and re-started the needle rose to the half way mark.

This issue was an aside from the post I did about a really bad misfire at above 2000 rpm. My brother collected the car for me, so I have yet to discover what they managed to find, but the car seems a lot smoother with a deeper overall engine note, although I have noticed a very slight stumble when she,s cold as soon as the temperature rises its really smooth. I will find out what they did next week and post details for anyone that might be interested.

My brother did tell me vaguely that they had been inside the fuel distributor and replaced a seal/seals ?. Note my brother is totally opposite to me when it comes to cars, but he,s still a great brother

Many thanks for all who offered their advice and when I find out more details I will ad them
