Default Deoxiting CE panel

What is the procedure for using Deoxit on the CE panel? Do you remove fuses clean and and treat connections with Deoxit spray or the other bottle? Also for relays and back side of CE panel? I have a '78 with the ceramic fuses.

I removed all the fuses and relays to treat their contact points with Deoxit. Ceramic fuses will have metal contacts that need to be de-oxidized. I also treated the rear of the panel with Deoxit.
You have options with Deoxit for application.
D100 liquid via long needle applicator (100%).
D100 spray (100%).
D5 spray (5%).
Each has advantages/disadvantages for application at a particular site.

This is what I suggest if you have deoxit spray.

Disconnect the battery,
then remove the fuses from the panel ,
then the relays,
with a small wire brush clean the fuse holders,

Then drop the CE panel down ,
get the deoxit spray and apply to the rear side of the fuse holder wire connectors this will wick into the connections and restore the connectivity,
continue with the relay positions,
refit the CE panel ,
clean the relay pins with an eraser,
then apply some deoxit with a Q tip to the pins,
then fit to the board .

NOTE make sure to use a relay / fuse guide so the correct relay goes into the correct slot .

NOTE take a picture first before removing anything from the CE panel.

apply the fuses the a quick spray along the fuses with the deoxit spray this will wick into the connections

Yes, mechanically cleaning the metal contact points first is a given as is disconnecting the ground strap before working the CE panel - my bad.

Yes, pull the fuses. I followed the method on Sharskin's page. He used Stabilant instead of Deoxit. I used Deoxit because it was available locally.

+1 to the Sharkskin writeup.

It's easy to follow, not too hard to do, and definitely a good idea.

Disconnecting the battery should always be the first step, and take pics/make diagrams of stuff before you start to take it apart.
Personally, I put each fuse and relay on a sheet of paper that had the location written on it. Make a larger than life diagram of the panel and put each part in the proper location as you take them out.

I used Sharkskin's writeup- also using DeOxIt w/needle applicator.

Pictures before, during & after. Gathered up all my fuses and relays, inspected, rejected bad and cleaned keepers. Same as with fuses- and installed all as ceramic.

Cleaning, used Dremel (and mentioned which brushes I used somewhere in the 928 forum), then DeOxIt-ized everything. Front, back, plugs and ground contacts before reassembly- fuses and relays (referencing "Allan's Single Page CE Panel" work for my MY)... and lastly plugs.

Instantaneously: fog lights and left & right side park lights (via turn signal lever) work, AC blows stronger, ignition key buzzes, front wipers park and no more intermittent speedo/odo issues.

Highly recommend this for all 928 owners. It's too easy and beneficial to avoid!

DeoxIt is a cleaner. Stabilant is a contact enhancer. Both work well, and either one alone will solve most problems.
DeoxIt works better with mechanical movement to help break the corrosion.
Stabilant will also benefit from mechanical movement, but will still help even with no movement.
