Quick story about how to screw your brain up.
This morning I spent a few hours getting an '84 Euro running, it had a failed EZF brain so took care of that and a few other electrical things. Then for this afternoon I have an '84 US that doesn't want to start as often as it should.
Two identical years and each car can't be any different. Then try sticking your nose in the WSM for 1984 and try and make sense of it. The '83 diagram works better for the US '84. Don't know how you owners of 1984's do it.
SMH, I think it's about time to call it a weekend and go have some drinks and cigars.
Have a Happy 4th of July weekend everyone.

Happy 4th.
Send me your email address, I have a cross reference spreadsheet that isn't perfect but gives some help.
I mapped most all the wires coming out of the plugs on the CE.

SeanR- good luck with your separated-at-birth kinda sorta twins! I don't know if a newbie like me can help, but mine seems to run fairly well, all things considered!
(Even w/alternator/electrical woes, I drove over an hour today, under fifty mph, w/2 separate stops and no issues!)

Y and Z are interjected in middle of the set of plugs. They are short, 6 terminals each.
Y position is for antilock brakes on 84. If no antiliock, it should be blank, not jumpered.
Z position has black plug and is for alarm.
If an owner bypasses the alarm, he usually pulls the Z plug out and lets it lie on the floor, then uses one jumper wire to bypass the alarm and let the car operate.
If a factory no-alarm car, it will have a white plug with a single jumper wire embedded instead of the black Z plug.
BTW, the alternator excitor wire circuit actually passes through the Z plug jumper.
The 84 diagrams are a major PITA. No wire colors. Oddball coordinate system. Like they were designed to be a puzzle.
