Unhappy Got a call from the head of the HOA today...

So I pulled into our court this morning after a quick shakedown and airing out of my 91 S4. I don't even put 200 miles on my daily driver each month and almost none on the 928 so i have to joy ride once a week.

Anyway I came in pretty slow but with the X-pipe, it's loud but tasteful.

Did the hand wave to the head of the HOA an her husband who were outside their home as I passed. Put the car in the garage, shut down, went back to work.

This evening, after dinner I get a call from the the head of the HOA. I say hi. She is loud on the other end of the phone:

"I just have go to tell you how much my husband Jim LOVED your car. We saw you pull in but it took us a minute to realize it was you. He was guessing it was a late 80's 928. He'd seen the back of it parked in your garage but never had a good look at it. Anyway, just thought we'd tell you how much we liked it..."

This could have ended so differently. Nice story and nice neighbors!

Yeah thats a good story, thought for sure it would end differently. Just heard too many HOA horror stories of power hungry people telling others how to live. You are fortunate.

I would never buy into any HOA neighborhood. Glad it had a good ending!

Nor would I, except for this one.

You shouldn't... it's the closest you ever come to living under communist rule.

Yep - that's the only way. Join the "Politburo", if you can.

Neighbor across the street is a salesman at local AutoMax. Told me his boss gave him a ride home one day and saw my GTS sitting the garage. Told me his boss told him I had a really cool car.

Asked next door neighbor if the RMB was too loud. He commented that he and his wife could tell when I come and go, but he liked the way it sounded and not to make it any quieter.

HOA = Home Owner's Association, or sometimes Neighborhood Association.

My neighborhood association basically takes dues to manage and maintain a boulevard center median green belt that runs through the neighborhood. Every spring they host a work day to clean up and re-plant flowers and greenery in the garden spots on the median. I've lived here 15 years and twice they sponsored neighborhood block parties. The hand out the Yard of the Month sign, but have never heard of them complaining about anyone's yard and mine got pretty bad summer before last when I was sick.

No way would I ever consider an HOA. My car is louder than most yet it has never inspired a negative comment from an american. Even the older people loved the sound.

Edit: just remembered the Mickster may have a different view of hoa's than most
