I used up all my search function ideas and have not found any write up or mention of anybody successfully repairing the L/km gauge on the tachometer.
Does anybody have any ideas as to common fixes or even something that may possibly be correctable?

LOL!!!! Yes, but that would entail a more than basic understanding of electrons and their migration to and fro different areas of an electrical circuit, and more than basic knowledge of diodes and resistors and their ilk.
I can mostly use a multi-meter, but I have banned by DocMirror from getting too close to a 928 with a soldering iron.
Does anybody know from whence this particular gauge gets its signal? I can put power to the gauge and make it read all on or all off (which means I have probably already fried the internals of the gauge by putting power to it). But maybe the gauge would work if the wires supplying the signal worked. (?)
Any direction from someone more versed in Diodes, resistors, and wiring diagrams would be greatly appreciated.
The fact that this gauge doesn't work correctly has absolutely no bearing on the operation of the car, it's just one of those niggling little things, you know?
